REDMI Note 15 SE Confirmed for April 2 Launch

Xiaomi is gearing up to expand its fiercely competitive mid-range lineup. Xiaomi India has officially confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that the new REDMI Note 15 SE will launch in the Indian market on April 2. Poised to be a Flipkart exclusive, this “Special Edition” model is expected to fine-tune the hardware configuration of the standard REDMI Note 15, offering a more aggressive price point for budget-conscious consumers.

What Under the Hood?

Based on recent industry reports, the REDMI Note 15 SE will largely mirror the foundation of the standard Note 15 but with strategic cost-cutting measures.

The device is expected to retain the core performance metrics of its sibling:

  • Display: A massive 6.77-inch 120Hz high-refresh-rate panel.

  • Processor: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3.

  • Battery: A substantial 5520mAh cell supporting 45W fast charging.

To achieve its lower price tag, Xiaomi is expected to omit the in-box charger and scale back the camera hardware. While the standard REDMI Note 15 boasts a 108MP primary sensor, the exact megapixel count for the SE’s downgraded camera remains unconfirmed at this time.

Affected Devices / Software Versions

  • Device: REDMI Note 15 SE

  • Out-of-the-Box Software: Expected to debut with Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

  • Predecessor Context: Older devices in the standard REDMI Note 15 lineup originally shipped with Xiaomi HyperOS 2.2 out of the box.

Market Impact and Pricing

The REDMI Note 15 SE is explicitly designed to capture the highly competitive sub-$250 market. By slightly reducing the camera specifications and removing included accessories, Xiaomi is targeting an estimated launch price of 16,000 to 18,000 INR (approximately $190 to $215 USD). This aggressive pricing strategy provides a compelling new option for users who want modern processing power and a high-refresh-rate screen without paying a premium for top-tier camera hardware.
