REDMI K90 sets new benchmark as Xiaomi’s strongest midi standard model

Redmi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi REDMI K90 Standard Edition will launch on October 23 at 7 PM (China time). The new smartphone has been labeled as the “strongest standard version” of Redmi to date and is said to bring a full evolution in design, performance, and user experience. According to Redmi’s official Weibo, the K90 delivers “unlimited performance and display capabilities” and features a sound system co-tuned by Bose, the same audio partnership found in the high-end REDMI K90 Pro Max.

A Major Leap Beyond Performance

According to REDMI product manager Sun Cun, the REDMI K90 represents a fundamental shift in strategy. Rather than focusing solely on performance, the device aims to be a well-balanced next-generation flagship. Redmi intends for the K90 to stand out through its craftsmanship, visual design, and imaging system. It’s also positioned to rival Xiaomi’s mainline models, highlighting no technical or price-based separation between the REDMI and Xiaomi brands.

Polished Design for Daily Use

Redmi K90 features a 6.59-inch “golden mid-size” display, designed to present the optimal balance between usability and quality of sight. This is the optimal radius for an adult thumb, as Redmi puts it, so one-handed operation comes easy. This also provides for entertainment and multitasking by providing the optimal room without sacrificing comfort.

In terms of craftsmanship, the K90 embraces a metal mid-frame featuring symmetrical antenna strips and a 94% screen-to-body ratio. The back boasts a monochromatic cold-sculpted Deco design, emphasizing simplicity and precision. According to initial details, this is the most refined K-series standard model produced so far.

Digital blogger @DigitalChatStation revealed additional information, mentioning the K90 implements a horizontal matrix camera design with a large sensor triple-camera setup. The phone shares the BOSE audio tuning system but does not offer the 2.1-channel subwoofer present on the Pro Max model. Regardless, the general audio tuning offers a premium sound experience.

The use of aerospace-grade metal materials in the frame contributes to improved durability and better heat dissipation, while the balanced design enhances grip and usability — essential traits for power users.

Redmi’s Renewed Vision

Xiaomi’s Lu Weibing, President of the Xiaomi Group, emphasized that the REDMI K90 series marks the “second chapter” of Xiaomi’s flagship season. Weibing reiterated three major principles defining the K90’s development philosophy:

  • Product definition will not be limited by price.
  • No brand-based technical differentiation will exist.
  • Direct competition with Xiaomi’s premium models is not ruled out.

This statement reaffirms Xiaomi’s ambition to eliminate internal brand hierarchy, creating a more unified flagship experience across both Redmi and Xiaomi product lines.

Launch Details

The Redmi K90 launch ceremony will take place on 7 PM October 23 (China time). The ceremony will also unveil the K90 Pro and K90 Pro Max, providing customers with several variations in one high-end ecosystem.

For global customers other than China, the Redmi K90 series will officially go live worldwide under the POCO brand, with the same chips but with regional software optimization.X
