REDMI K90 series launch event set for tomorrow

Xiaomi Group Partner and Mobile Division President Lu Weibing announced that the REDMI K90 series will officially debut tomorrow. In his recent Weibo post, he described the launch as the second chapter of Xiaomi’s flagship release season, following the successful debut of the Xiaomi 17 series. According to Weibing, the REDMI K90 lineup marks a major step forward for the brand, featuring higher-end specifications, a refreshed positioning, and even direct competition with Xiaomi’s mainline flagship phones.

A New Phase for the K Series

Weibing emphasized that the REDMI K90 series will reflect the brand’s evolution and ambition to deliver “true flagship” performance. He explained that Redmi aims to grow alongside its users by pushing for innovation, bold design, and uncompromised technology. The K90 series will feature two major shifts this year: an earlier release date moved from November to October, and the introduction of a new Pro Max variant, a first for the K lineup.

The REDMI K90 Pro Max carries a clear mission — to dominate the 4,000 yuan (~$499) price segment with superior product performance. It promises significant upgrades in performance, display, battery life, imaging, and audio, setting new benchmarks for Redmi’s flagship standards.

Competing Directly with Xiaomi Flagships

Perhaps the most striking part of Weibing’s message is his statement that the K series will “not limit product definition by price, nor create technical differentiation by brand.” This bold declaration indicates that Redmi’s K90 lineup could compete head-to-head with Xiaomi’s own flagships, underscoring the company’s confidence in its sub-brand’s technological maturity.

Weibing also confirmed that this move aligns with Xiaomi Group’s broader strategy to strengthen its product ecosystem and diversify its high-end offerings. Pre-Orders and Release Details

The REDMI K90 series is now listed for pre-order on Xiaomi Mall, with the launch event scheduled for October. Alongside the smartphones, the REDMI Watch 6 will also be unveiled, completing Redmi’s latest ecosystem expansion.
