The market for performance smartphones is all set to get a whole lot cooler, literally. Based on the most up-to-date information provided by the famous tech leakster Digital Chat Station, a brand-new “sub-brand” performance flagship is under testing, boasting groundbreaking hardware features like a cooling fan and a top-notch display.
Active Cooling and Durability
This leak indicates that the engineering prototype for this future device, with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 (D9500) processor, is currently being benchmarked with an internal active cooling fan. It is quite surprising to learn that this cooling fan is embedded inside what is termed as the “Deco” section (the camera module) of this device.
Whereas the incorporation of the physical fan will essentially increase the complexity of the phone when it comes to its protective capabilities against the elements, it is stated within the report that the phone will support an IP68 rating when it comes to its dust and water-resistance capabilities.
Display and Design
Apart from its cooling functions, the new REDMI product is anticipated to have the following features:
- 1.5K Resolution Display: Provides optimal visual clarity combined with efficient power usage.
- Ultra High Refresh Rates: Targeted at providing a very smooth user interface for the gamer.
- Minimalist Aesthetic: “ID design” is characterized as very sleek and minimalist despite the system’s complexity, as design trends go these days.
A New Trend in Mobile Performance?
This is now following a trend in the device industry where “active cooling” in gaming phones is now being extended to performance flagships.
- Honor has rolled out its “WIN series with Dongfeng Turbo Cooling,” which boasts an internal fan with the industry’s smallest size and fastest speed.
- iQOO is also preparing to launch the iQOO 15 Ultra soon before the Lunar New Year and is rumored to come with an even larger active cooling fan and physical shoulder buttons, targeting to be the “Performance Ultra” of the industry.
However, while mobile chip designs like the Dimensity 9500 continue to push the envelope on performance and processing power, thermal throttling is currently the largest challenge for performance. REDMI could be setting a whole new standard for what “performance” is in 2026 with its fan-integrated design that does not affect its waterproofing and is IP68 certified. Stay tuned with us until we hear an official announcement about the launch date of this much-expected gadget.
