Redmi A5 leaked: Several variants are expected to arrive in early 2025

As the most recent leak shows, some key points of both global and regional variants have been revealed, showcasing what is in store for us from the new Redmi A5 launching anywhere between February to March 2025; there are rumors it shall include NFC and Non-NFC versions.

Redmi A5 Variants

  • India: Both Redmi A5 and POCO Variant.
  • Global Markets: Both NFC and non-NFC models.
  • Latin America: Models that were for the region.
  • POCO Variants: The POCO variant of Redmi A5 will come in NFC and not-NFC variants, plus Indian launch confirmation.

Model Numbers

Here are the leaked model numbers associated with Redmi A5 and its POCO variant:

  • Redmi A5
    • 25028RN03G (Worldwide)
    • 25028RN03I (IND)
    • 25028RN03A (Latin America)
    • 25028RN03Y (Global NFC)
    • 25028RN03L
  • POCO Variant
    • 25028PC03I (India)
    • 25028PC03G (Global)
    • 25028PC03L (Latin America)
    • 25028PC03L (Global NFC)

We previously thought that these model numbers belonged to the Redmi 14, but it turns out that they belong to the Redmi A5.

No new REDMI branding

The Redmi brand had changed its name to REDMI. However, in this newly added IMEI record, Redmi is still used instead of REDMI. Will there be a different situation in the global market?

What to Expect

The regional variants of the Redmi A5 series are thus bound to cater to a wide swathe of users, and their pricing will likely be quite competitive. NFC options are part of the company’s drive to expand access for mobile payments, while the use of the POCO branding in India and elsewhere points to a more overtly youth-oriented approach. Stay tuned for more on specifications, pricing, and when an official launch will place as early as 2025!
