Well, that’s a wrap, folks. Xiaomi has finally taken the wraps off the Redmi 14R 5G. Now, the phone is up for sale in China starting at 1,099 yuan (155 USD)for the 4+128GB model. With 5G services being demanded from a budget-friendly smartphone setup, here is a glimpse of what the key specifications bring along based on the performance of the device and design. Everything is same with Redmi 14C except SoC.
Main Setup and Appearance
Wrapped in a 6.88-inch 720P water drop display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, the visual experience is smooth and fluid, as one would be expecting with everyday tasks and media consumption in mind. Being at 720P resolution, it compensates with its high refresh rate to deliver somewhat good display performance for a budget phone.
Performance Powered by Snapdragon 4 Generation 2
Meanwhile, the Redmi 14R 5G deploys a different Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor from the globally released Redmi 14C 4G housing the Helio G81 ultra. The chipset promises to be high on performance and efficiency along with the 5G support and should be really good to go on par with other budget 5G smartphones.
Battery Life and Charging
The phone comes fitted with a 5160mAh battery, which is enough for that extended battery life from a single charge for normal usage. It supports 18W charging, but inside the box, there is a regular 10W charger. In combination, these will at least ensure that even with the extra power consumption necessitated by 5G, users aren’t running out of battery anytime fast.
Setup the Camera
The front of the Redmi 14R 5G carries a 5MP selfie camera, good enough for video calls and casual photography. Meanwhile, on the rear, it has a 13MP primary camera. Interestingly, the global Redmi 14C 4G has a 50MP camera, but as leaked earlier in the pipeline (Redmi 14C 4G in China), this Chinese variant to maintain 13MP on the rear camera.
However, rumors point out that the global version of the Redmi 14R 5G may launch as the Redmi 14C 5G, and it could be fitted with a 50MP camera to… I guess improve the photography.
Design and Rear Panel
Design language remains clean and functional. The back holds a sleek plastic finish with a minimal camera bump for the 13MP single primary camera. There’s also a retained 3.5mm headphone jack, apt for users who prefer wired audio solutions in today’s wireless smartphones.
The Redmi 14R 5G can surely boast of its competitive set of features and price. Fitted with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, 5G support, and a 5160mAh battery, this device promises to be one of the dependable options for budget phone buyers. This makes the device further compelling with its 120Hz display and lightweight design, thus emerging as a very worthy choice in its category. Global variant is expected soon, and it will be called the Redmi 14C 5G, and may well boast a 50MP rear camera sensor instead of the 13MP on this Chinese model. Good thing to watch out for, as that would add so much more value for international consumers.
