Popular Xiaomi devices won’t get HyperOS 3 update

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that select devices will not be eligible for the upcoming HyperOS 3 update, signaling a notable adjustment in their software support roadmap. This move impacts a number of high-profile and widely adopted models, spanning flagship and mid-range segments. The rationale is clear: Xiaomi is prioritizing the allocation of its development resources to hardware platforms better equipped to leverage advanced features, such as the new “liquid glass” interface and AI-powered enhancements planned for HyperOS 3.

With the September rollout positioned as a major milestone in Xiaomi’s software evolution, anticipation remains high—though, for some users, this announcement will come as a disappointment.

Devices Excluded from HyperOS 3

Flagship Lineup

  • Xiaomi 11 Series: The entire 11 Series has been ruled out for HyperOS 3.
  • Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE: No upgrade path will be provided.

Redmi Segment

  • Redmi Note 12 Series: All models, from the Note 12 5G to Note 12 Pro+, will not receive the update.
  • Redmi K50 Series: Only the K50 Ultra is eligible; all other K50 variants are excluded.

POCO Brand Changes

The POCO lineup is also affected, with several popular series losing access to the new software:

  • POCO M5 Series: Excluded entirely.
  • POCO X5 Series: Not supported for HyperOS 3.
  • POCO F4 Series: Update support discontinued.

Tablet Limitations

Xiaomi’s tablet portfolio is not immune: the widely used Xiaomi Pad 6 will also miss out on HyperOS 3, reportedly due to performance and compatibility requirements tied to the update’s more demanding user interface.

HyperOS 3: Innovation with Higher Requirements

The upcoming release will introduce a design language reminiscent of high-end mobile platforms—centered on fluid visuals and enhanced AI integration. These advancements, however, require greater hardware capabilities, which has driven the decision to limit HyperOS 3 to newer devices.
