POCO X8 Series Launched: Redefine Mid-Range Standards with HyperOS 3

Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has officially shaken the global smartphone market with the unveiling of its latest X-series lineup. In a strategic shift for 2026, the brand has skipped the standard “X8” moniker, positioning the POCO X8 Pro as the new entry point, while introducing a powerhouse “super-flagship” in the mid-range segment: the POCO X8 Pro Max.

Both devices arrive with the cutting-edge Xiaomi HyperOS 3 (based on Android 16) and massive battery innovations that push the boundaries of what users expect from affordable performance handsets.

The New Performance Kings: Dimensity 8500-Ultra and 9500s

The POCO X8 series leverages MediaTek’s latest silicon to deliver flagship-tier efficiency. The POCO X8 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 8500-Ultra (4nm), providing a balanced mix of high-speed processing and thermal management.

Stepping up to the POCO X8 Pro Max, users get the world-class MediaTek Dimensity 9500s built on a 3nm process. This chipset features the Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz and the Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU, making it a formidable tool for mobile gaming and heavy multitasking. Both devices utilize LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for lightning-fast data handling.

Ultra-Bright Displays and Revolutionary Battery Tech

POCO continues to dominate the display category. The X8 Pro features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel, while the Pro Max scales up to a 6.83-inch screen. Both displays reach a staggering 3500 nits peak brightness, ensuring perfect visibility even under direct sunlight, and support Xiaomi HyperConnect for seamless ecosystem integration.

Battery life is where this series truly separates itself:

  • POCO X8 Pro: Equipped with a 6500mAh battery.

  • POCO X8 Pro Max: Houses a massive 8500mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Both models support 100W HyperCharge and, notably, 27W wired reverse charging—capable of powering up other devices like the iPhone 17 series (via OTA update coming March 2026).

Advanced AI and Camera Capabilities

Powered by Xiaomi HyperOS 3, the X8 series is deeply integrated with Google Gemini and Circle to Search. Advanced AI features such as AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, and the AI Creativity Assistant are baked directly into the system.

On the hardware side, both models sport a 50MP main camera with OIS. The Pro Max utilizes the Light Fusion 600 image sensor for superior dynamic range, while both devices offer 4K 60fps video recording and specialized “Motion Tracking” modes.

POCO X8 Pro Series Pricing and Availability

The POCO X8 series is launching globally with highly competitive pricing that challenges the premium segment:

Model Configuration Price (USD)
POCO X8 Pro 8GB + 256GB $299
POCO X8 Pro 8GB + 512GB $329
POCO X8 Pro 12GB + 512GB $359
POCO X8 Pro Max 12GB + 256GB $478
POCO X8 Pro Max 12GB + 512GB $532
POCO X8 Pro Max 12GB + 512GB (Iron Man Edition) $532

Xiaomi’s Strategy

With the release of the POCO X8 Pro and Pro Max, Xiaomi is doubling down on its “Performance-to-Price” ratio while migrating its entire ecosystem to Xiaomi HyperOS 3. By removing the standard model and elevating the “Pro” and “Pro Max” tiers, POCO is aligning its naming convention with premium market trends while keeping costs accessible.
