Xiaomi has again set new standards in mobile innovation with the launch of the REDMI K90 Pro Max, which will be available worldwide as the POCO F8 Ultra. The highlight of this device is its 2.1 stereo audio system — an innovative setup that features an exclusive woofer. This setup turns the device into a mobile sound bar, providing a high-fidelity immersive listening environment for smartphones that are rarely used.
A 2.1 Sound System In a Smartphone
The POCO F8 Ultra’s 2.1 setup is a first for a Xiaomi smartphone. Dual-stereo speakers are a feature of classic phones, but here, Xiaomi has added a rear-mounted woofer — an add-on found in independent audio systems. This speaker handles low-frequency notes, providing depth and warmth to songs and movies that is comparable to independent soundbars.
From Xiaomi, the build isn’t cosmetic. The firm emphasized that the woofer is capable of even resisting water exposure and continue to deliver rich, even performance. This is a technical and practical achievement for consumers who value as much durability as sound quality.
Tuned by Bose for Professional-Grade Sound
Both the REDMI K90 Pro Max (POCO F8 Ultra) and the standard K90 feature professional tuning by Sound by Bose, one of the world’s most famous audio engineering companies. The standard model features a 2.0 stereo system while the Pro Max edition doubles it to 2.1, adding in dual superlinear speakers as well as an independent subwoofer.
The result is clean vocals, robust bass, and immersive surround-like sound. The audio demo at the launch event by Xiaomi showcased the range of the system, with the Pro Max emitting sound quality akin to compact Bluetooth speakers or mini soundbars.
Real-World Impact and Future Implementation
Early test videos out of China have individuals pouring water directly onto the woofer grille — and the sound remains unchanged, with the great bass response and fidelity. The durability is something that bodes well for the future in the incorporation of 2.1 systems into other Xiaomi flagships, possibly to devices like the Xiaomi 15T Pro or upcoming Redmi K Ultra devices.
If this technology becomes mainstream, Xiaomi would be establishing a new standard for portable entertainment devices, merging phone portability and real high-fidelity sound quality.
