The OPPO K12x 5G Android 16-based ColorOS 16 update is now rolling out to users in India, marking another step in OPPO’s latest software upgrade schedule. Following the recent update for the OPPO F31 series, the company has now extended the much-anticipated Android 16 build to K12x users.
However, the release is currently limited to select users, likely those who registered for the beta or release candidate program. The good news is that applications are still open, giving more users the chance to experience the update early.
Update Availability and Requirements
The beta application opened on March 3, and to be eligible, your device must be running firmware version:
CPH2667_16.0.3.500(EX01)
At the moment, the rollout appears to be exclusive to India, though OPPO is expected to expand availability to other regions in the coming weeks.

What’s New in Android 16-Based ColorOS 16?
The new update introduces a wide range of AI features, system optimizations, and cross-device enhancements designed to improve productivity and performance.
ColorOS 16 adds smarter AI tools like AI Mind Space, which lets you record 60-second voice notes by long-pressing the Snap Key, automatically organizing them into smart collections. There’s also deeper Google Gemini integration for searching saved notes and combining personal content with web results. The AI Recorder Assistant can summarize recordings and clean up background noise, while AI Writer helps generate social media captions and even convert text into structured formats like tables or mind maps.
Cross-device functionality has also improved. When connected to an iPhone via Bluetooth, users can view calls, messages, and notifications directly within the OPPO Dialer. Screen mirroring to PC has been enhanced via cable or cloud connection, and users can now run up to five Windows apps simultaneously.
Performance sees a boost thanks to the upgraded Trinity Engine for more stable frame rates and enhancements to the Luminous Rendering Engine for smoother animations. The system-wide Luminous Design has also been refined for a cleaner visual experience.
On the camera side, users get new tools such as AI Portrait Glow, Motion Photo Collage, enhanced slow-motion editing, and a built-in video editor. The update also introduces new Flux Themes, expanded home screen customization, and broader Aqua Dynamics support.
