New Xiaomi Pad with XRING processor leaked: 12.5 screen and 120W charging

Industry insider @DCS broke the news on Xiaomi’s new flagship tablet with a 12.5-inch touchscreen display and staggering 120W super flash charging technology. This is just weeks following the successful release of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, in which the company prepares to add to its premium tablet line with varying display technologies. Based on the leaked specs, this new tablet teases the sharing of platform-certified comms modulation and power configurations in line with the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ult ra, hinting at Xiaomi’s strategic drive for integrated hardware systems. The development reflects Xiaomi’s continued aim to provide customers with varied options in the premium tablet market, marrying advanced charging technology with established display solutions.

Display and Performance Specifications

The new flaghip tablet is to include a 12.5-inch LCD panel, as a contrast to the 14-inch OLED screen of the newly launched Pad 7 Ultra. This strategic decision gives customers an option of different screen size without compromizing the premium construction standards and processing power. The specifications of the device closely follow the established flaghip criteria in Xiaomi’s product portfolio.

The latest our research has uncovered a tablet with the codename “violin” with model number O81A, powered by the Xiaomi XRING O1 processor. This is significant in the context of Xiaomi tablet strategy, as the original model of O81 was the Pad 7 Pro with Snapdragon architecture. The switch to the new model number of O81A with the addition of XRING O1 is indicative of the company’s processing selection change for this line of product.

The presence of an “A” in the model number usually indicates that the same model will have a lower CPU. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro model number is O81 and the upcoming XRING O1 processor-powered tablet has the model number O81A, which suggests that it may have a lowered XRING processor. The device, which was originally thought to have been cancelled in development by us, has been confirmed to be released per the latest Digital Chat Station.

Charging technology and battery life

The emphasis here is the 120W super flash charging capacity, which is equal to the power delivery systems of Xiaomi’s higher-end flagship phones. It is a major breakthrough in tablet charging speed that can potentially make tablet charging dramatically faster than the standard tablet charging solutions.

Key Specifications:

  • 12.5-inch LCD display technology 120W
  • Super Flash Charging Support
  • XRING SoC
  • High-end flagship positioning

Market Environment and Competition

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, which was released this month, set new standards with its 14-inch 3:2 ratio 3.2K resolution OLED display with 120Hz screen refresh and XRING O1 chip support. Priced from around $780 USD (equivalent to 5,699 yuan for the China release), it is the biggest tablet Xiaomi has to offer so far.

The launch of various flagship tablet offerings reflects the holistic strategy of Xiaomi to address varied consumer choices with competitive pricing strategies in the premium tablet segment.
