OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi, the three members of the Gold Standard Alliance (Mobile Intelligent Terminal Ecological Alliance), have jointly announced today the enforcement of a requirement for application developers to adapt to large-screen devices.
The Gold Label Alliance is an open, non-profit social organization voluntarily initiated and established by Chinese smart terminal manufacturers OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Ali, Baidu, and Tencent. In November 2022, Lenovo announced its participation in the Gold Label Alliance, followed by BBK in April 2023.
The Gold Label certification service aims to select applications that meet certification standards in terms of stability, compatibility, performance, power consumption, security, and privacy, and recommend them to users in the application markets of Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, and Lenovo.

To ensure that applications are primarily available on foldable screens, manufacturers and third-party applications can provide users with a good experience and together create a successful and healthy ecosystem for large-screen applications. OPPO’s open platform will collaborate with Xiaomi’s open platform and vivo’s open platform to further advance the adaptation of applications to foldable and large screens and establish good industry standards together. The following serious issues will occur on the large foldable screen as of July 31, 2023:
- Problems such as flashback and black screen occur when switching between large screens or between large and small screens.
- The layout of the application page is severely disrupted, only half of the content is displayed, the content of multiple pages or first-level pages significantly overlaps, and the sizes of controls of the same type are inconsistent.
- Within a week, there have been many user complaints about the application being blocked, which has significantly affected the user experience.
If the above situations occur in the application, the platform will take relevant measures for the application, including but not limited to the “search tag reminder” and “red text reminder on the details page.”
Developers are requested to actively collaborate with the platform to make adjustments. OPPO hopes to work with you to create a better wide-screen application ecosystem.
Vivo

To ensure that applications are primarily available on foldable screens, provide users with a good experience, and together create a prosperous and healthy ecosystem for large-screen applications. Vivo’s open platform will collaborate with Xiaomi’s open platform and OPPO’s open platform to further promote application adaptation measures for foldable screens and large screens. All applications on the Vivo channel should not be visible on foldable screens after July 31, 2023. The situation is as follows:
- Basic application functions such as face recognition, payment functions, and data synchronization cannot be used.
- The layout of the application’s main interface is displayed in a mixed manner, content is missing, the screen cannot be split, and page transitions are abnormal, etc.
- There have been many user complaints about the application being blocked within a week.
If the above situations occur in the application, the platform will take relevant measures for the application, including but not limited to the “red text reminder on the details page.”
Developers are requested to actively collaborate with the platform to make adjustments. You can test and verify through the cloud real machine provided by the cloud testing platform. Vivo hopes to work with you to create a better wide-screen application ecosystem.

Xiaomi’s Open Platform is collaborating with OPPO’s Open Platform and vivo’s Open Platform to jointly support the wide screen adaptation experience of Android applications, improve the experience of Android users, and enjoy high-quality services provided by developers, thereby promoting the wide-screen application ecosystem and industry adaptation features.
As of July 31, 2023, the following situations exist to improve the wide-screen experience of applications on the market:
- Application crashes, black screens, etc., occur in parallel windows (when switching between horizontal and vertical screens).
- After window switching, the application page has an irregular layout and missing content display.
- Multiple pages or first-level pages in the application overlap, and the sizes of controls of the same type are inconsistent.
- For a while, there have been many user experience feedback complaints and other issues that affect normal usage.
If the above situations occur in the application, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo platforms will take relevant measures, including but not limited to “warning users about adaptation issues during download and installation processes.”
At the same time, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo platforms will provide developers with free adaptation guidelines and services to help reduce the cost of adapting to large screens.
