HyperOS Enhanced Beta 2 removes a feature that has been around for 10 years

Equally impressive, there is a change in HyperOS Enhanced Beta 2, referring to the HyperOS Launcher. The nice design of hiding the status bar time when a clock widget is on the desktop, which was implemented back in MIUI 6, has been removed. To long-time Xiaomi users, this may be considered quite a loss because it was something that only Xiaomi could have offered and was functional, at that.

However, the decision to kill this feature might have been swayed by recent feedback from users who joined the ranks of Xiaomi from other manufacturers. For most of them, this design of a hidden status bar time was confusing and uncalled for. This feedback must have played a role in the decision-making of Xiaomi while killing the feature in the latest HyperOS Beta version.

Worth noticing here is that the developer behind the optimization module of this feature had added a switch to disable it some time ago, so there was always some fragmentation in the user base as to how useful it was. This tweak in HyperOS is a good example of how Xiaomi listens to user feedback, even when it involves changing long-entrenched design features.

HyperOS 1.5 Enhanced Beta 2 Launcher app have updated (September 29)

On the other hand, it is always possible that users who miss this feature will have more options in one of the future updates, since they are usually built based on users’ preferences.

“listen to user feedback” funny while removing or abandon an actual usefull item/feature like build-in data usage on notification panel, unless using old style notification panel, also whats up with the notification icon limit to 3? It just stupid, to make it worse MIUI/HyperOS doesn’t even have silent notification option (only visible when opening notification panel, no icon) so persistent notification doesn’t use that 3 notification icon limit on status bar. Oh also removing screen-on time & usage from fully charge in battery page.
