The latest HyperOS 2 update for the Redmi K70 Ultra has brought a very visible design change: the clock on both lock screen and home screen is now centered, much like on iPhones. Until now, the clock was aligned left, but this shift means Xiaomi is committed to using a cleaner, more symmetrical user interface across its devices.
Unified Design Philosophy in HyperOS 2
This update is a reflection of Xiaomi’s effort to modernize its design language under HyperOS 2. The company has centered the clock in an effort to provide a more polished and balanced visual experience. This change aligns with broader UI trends that emphasize simplicity and symmetry, appealing to users who value aesthetics.
Is This the New Standard for All Redmi Devices?
The centered clock design is, therefore, expected to make its way to all Redmi devices that will receive the HyperOS 2 update. While the design actually looks like a straight lift from Apple’s iOS, Xiaomi added its own little touch to make it perfectly blend in with the update and the HyperOS ecosystem.
New Lock Screen Design Features
- Centered Clock: A new position for the clock makes the lock screen highly minimalistic and symmetric.
- Personalization Options: Maybe in some future updates, the possibility of customizing style, font, and color for the clock may appear in HyperOS 2; for now, however, it is largely not available.
- Better Aesthetics of UI: Notifications and quick settings have been moved for a cleaner and less cluttered interface.
Implications for Users of HyperOS 2
The update makes the lock screen more beautiful and serves as a signal that Xiaomi is more committed to fleshing out HyperOS 2. Drawing inspiration from the most popular design philosophies, Xiaomi places itself as a competitor in the iOS and Android ecosystem when it comes to UI innovation. Although this design change has initially rolled out on the Redmi K70 Ultra, the expectation is that it extends to other Redmi and Xiaomi devices receiving the HyperOS 2 update. It may slightly differ with the model of the device and regional customizations.
However, it’s going to be cool, and considering the different releases of HyperOS 2 still rolling out throughout its lineup, this just has to be one piece in a very interesting time regarding how these design changes would be received. Finally, will the centered clock nub truly and literally cement itself as the ultimate icon of Xiaomi’s overall design philosophy? Only time knows for sure.
Why china version is beautiful? And Global version is ugly?
