This is one of Xiaomi’s most iOS-drenched features; two months ago, it shook the tech community with a brand-new recent apps menu in HyperOS: “Pile Up.” As part of all that, we’re here to dive deep into what it means for you.
Brief History of Recent Apps Menus in Android
The shifting of the recent apps menu to the launcher was, in fact, a change many manufacturers, including Xiaomi, borrowed from Google in Android 9. In MIUI 10, this functionality did find its way to the devices from Xiaomi. This does show what is required to be in multitasking and does switch easily between apps, but it lacked much in visual appeal that its users wanted—a more intuitive interface similar to iOS.
Enter HyperOS 2.0 and “Pile Up”.
With HyperOS 2.0, Xiaomi has listened to its users and is finally going to add the fruitful “Pile Up” recent apps menu. This new feature will arrive in an iOS-style view for the most recently used apps in a card-stacked view. This new look not only considers the aesthetics but also implies being much more functional and convenient in accessing frequently used apps.
The Beta Program and What’s to Come
Only a few days ago, Xiaomi announced a beta program for its HyperOS 2.0 Launcher, which was segregative in this highly awaited feature and would allow early access to a few users. Very early reports have indicated that the “Pile Up” menu is slick and fast; however, bringing some relatively fresh experiences to Xiaomi devices.
This feature is soon going to be available to all of you who haven’t entered the beta program. Xiaomi has planned to release HyperOS 2.0 in October, and then all users will get access to the “Pile Up” menu.

Why This Matters?
The introduction of “Pile Up” is much more than a UI update; it’s a statement of the company’s commitment to innovation and consumer satisfaction. Xiaomi is therefore making sure its devices stay competitive and friendly as it involves elements that users have been asking for in the devices. Final Thoughts HyperOS 2.0 is soon going to be a crazy update from Xiaomi, and “Pile Up” is only the beginning for the recent apps menu. As October inches closer as a release month, keep your eyes peeled for more updates and features that will take this experience of using Xiaomi to a whole new level of excitement.

Honestly, I have waited a long time (and have gave up the hope) of having Customisable Charging animations on Lock Screen . That was a thing on my old Vivo Z1 X. It’s kinda amazing that how that simple thing is not present in modern phones. It’s a silly thing but a nice feature to have.
