HyperOS 1.5 vs. 1.0 In-depth comparison and review

The roadmap of Xiaomi’s operating system is from HyperOS 1.0 up to HyperOS 1.5. On the whole, this is a continuing process geared towards enhancing user experience through robust system improvements, functionality optimization, and the addition of a raft of new features. Through this in-depth comparison, users will realize the upgrades that HyperOS 1.5 has over its predecessor, with a smoother, faster, and more intuitive interface.

Key System Improvements

Improvements that stand out in HyperOS 1.5 include the Improved Application Preloading mechanism. Optimized with an all-new strategy, the resultant startup animations place a very minimal delay on application startups, ensuring applications not only launch faster but run much more smoothly, thus improving user interaction from the moment an app is opened.

Optimized Resource Management

In HyperOS 1.5, application switching becomes easier and smoother due to optimization in the recovery of system resources. Thus, this version supports basic fluency improvements that HyperOS 1.0 offers for smooth multitasking and better resource management. For memory usage improvement, special optimization has been done, which can support perfect performance in some large memory usage applications like “Vibrato,” making it much smoother in performance than before.

Enhanced Notification Management

A critical update in HyperOS 1.5 was how it solved system restart problems that might result from an overload of notifications. This fix contributes a good deal toward system stability, ensuring there are no unwanted, needless restarts for the user, even when their number of notifications ranges into the thousands.

Notes and Control Center Enhancements

The most critical addition in HyperOS 1.5 is the fix to the most important problem on the Notes app—cloud synchronization. Specifically, users had issues when note attachment data reached over 20MB. This resolves such problems and now allows for smooth syncing even on large attachments.

The Control Center in the HyperOS 1.5 covers some of the quick switches that simply do not work sometimes to ensure access to all system controls without possible failures, boosting confidence in system controls.

Widget Improvements

Another addition, the Travel Assistant widget, which intelligently tracks and remembers all train and flight schedules, is now part of HyperOS 1.5. It’s particularly useful to travelers by giving them on-time reminders about their travel schedules from any destination right on the home screen.

Other further improvements include faster widget loading, especially on the minus one screen, and fixes for abnormal behaviors in the music and clock widgets. All these enhancements make the UI more responsive and reliable.

Improved User Interface and Application Experience

Lock Screen and Core Applications

Now, the lock screen in HyperOS 1.5 has an optimized long press trigger strategy, preventing accidental touches, which is a major improvement over the older version.

In some core applications, like the Clock, a problem where alarms could not be turned off has also been resolved to improve reliability and user satisfaction.

The Calculator got better button sensitivity, becoming more responsive and efficient in user interaction. Another small but very effective upgrade is about making everyday usability.

Album and File Management

Sponsored Candidates can discover a few marvels that HyperOS 1.5 has brought to the Album application, which involves the optimization of the strategy for video synchronization to make it more fluent in playing back video and fixes delays in loading previews. Other issues include wrong photo dates caused by cloud sync failures and re-appearing of already deleted photos.

The significant increase in speed while loading file lists through File Management greatly enhances productivity, reducing the wait times involved when users call for large volumes of files.

Improvements on mobile manager and notification bar

The Mobile Manager inside the HyperOS 1.5 will bring more reliable physical examination scores, allowing users to acquire more accurate information about their device status. This is closer to Xiaomi’s philosophy of providing all-around tools for device health and optimization.

Fixed several bugs in the Status Bar and Notification Bar in HyperOS 1.5, including ones related to the display of notification icons, whereby some did not show at all, and others appeared as blank notifications. All notifications are full and informative now. Addressed the issue with the 5G icon while changing the font size.

First global HyperOS 1.5 update is rolled out

HyperOS 1.5 is an all-rounder upgrade over HyperOS 1.0, i.e., with many Improved features ranging from the user interface and the diverse core features. From system stability and application performance to user interface improvement and widget functionality, version 1.5 brings much more stability, efficiency, and completeness to Xiaomi device users. This update will not only enhance the current user experience but also lay a base for future developments in the Xiaomi software ecosystem.

Why don’t you use two taps to turn off the screen?

While in an app and calls come, it shouldn’t take up the whole screen. We should be able to see incoming calls in a tiny window up top of whatever app we are inside at the time, and when we pick the call, it should vanish into the notification or stay as a very tiny window up top. Samsung does it, even tecni does it.

I presume a lot of the application improvements such as notes and file manager don’t rely on getting HyperOS v1.5?l – so will be rolled out to older phones

This is not 1.5 version. 1.5 will be written by 1.5.0.0 not 1.0.10.0. Also xiaomi never states that they will bring 1.5 version.
