Google now shields Xiaomi phones with a 3-month security rule

Google has officially changed the distribution and disclosure policy of the security patch of the Android system. This major change hits the distribution of the crucial security patches to key partners, including Xiaomi, straight in the pocket. The new distribution puts the OEMs first through private channels under a new confidentiality agreement. This will ensure that the Xiaomi HyperOS devices are made secure before vulnerability information is released to the public, making it safer for the users. This step makes the entire security ecosystem stronger for all Xiaomi phones.

What is Evolutionary with Android Security?

As per tech reports, Google is distancing itself from the public disclosure of vulnerabilities on the spot. Security patches are thus being given privately to known manufacturing partners such as Xiaomi, rather than being made openly available. The development was reported to be the first by the GrapheneOS team, as it noticed that the security bulletin issued in October listed zero public vulnerability details compared to the 114 vulnerability details provided publicly just a month earlier in September.

The New Three-Month “Embargo Period” The final

The best feature of this new policy is a required confidentiality agreement with OEMs. This agreement requires a three-month “embargo period.” Within this 90-day span, partners such as Xiaomi cannot release the source code of the security patches they are receiving.

Although that does not put off the user security patches. The makers are completely free to, and will, release the already translated compiled binary versions of the patches within public releases. This enables the swift release of patches to your Xiaomi Pad or Redmi phone right away, with the risky technical code kept secured away from exploit possibilities.

Why This Move Enhances Xiaomi User Security

Google’s public aim with this policy is to “enhance overall security.” By denying access to the source code of the vulnerability, Google is adopting a “security through obscurity” plan. This three-month delay offers OEMs such as Xiaomi a valuable advance warning to patch off devices globally prior to the easy analysis of the patch as well as reverse-engineering the exploit to exploit unpatched phones.

For the Xiaomi community, this is excellent news. It means our devices receive patches faster and more securely than ever. To ensure you always have the latest security updates and system apps, we highly recommend using the MemeOS Enhancer application from the Play Store. It allows you to access hidden Xiaomi features, manage system apps, and check for updates directly.

Még soha nem láttam olyat, hogy 3 havonta adnának ki bármilyen frissítést.
