First signs of HyperOS 2.0 found in Mi Code

The more Xiaomi polishes and progresses its HyperOS, the more so fans and devs alike are watching a diff of changes within its codebase. According to our examination of the system code in the latest Android 15 Beta 3 of HyperOS, an interesting new addition has been spotted, which gives a nod toward the imminent release of HyperOS 2.0.

Found a New Code: HYPER_OS2

While passing through the code of the system, we noticed a new line that was absent in both HyperOS 1.5 and Android 15 Beta 2. Here is the single line of code:

.field public static HYPER_OS2:I = 0x0

It means that the system is being readied for HyperOS 2.0, which would be a sizeable stride ahead in the development of Xiaomi’s system. This code can determine whether Xiaomi is working on the base for the next major version or just optimizing its current OS.

Migration from MIUI 15 to HyperOS 2.0

Originally, it was supposed to be launched as MIUI 15; then Xiaomi changed its mind and launched it as HyperOS 1.0. The outcomes from their final decision were not completely cleaned up, which turns out to leave behind traces of the MIUI 15 code in the system, probably indicating a transition phase for the OS.

The discovery of this HYPER_OS2 code further states the company has completely started working on something beyond MIUI, as the system codes do not point towards the release of MIUI 15 but instead target HyperOS 2.0.

What this Means to the User

This might indicate that HyperOS 2.0 will eventually become a reality for users. The shift in MIUI to HyperOS leans into Xiaomi’s efforts toward developing an even more comprehensive and optimized operating system with respect to the growing demands of its increasing user base in general. It is expected that a number of new features, optimizations, and improvements shall further enhance the user experience with HyperOS 2.0.

The shift also marks the end of an era for MIUI as Xiaomi finally goes all-in on the HyperOS branding and vision. This would surely help the company in streamlining software development efforts at Xiaomi while providing a more unified experience across its range of devices.

Clearly, the discovery of HYPER_OS2 code in the system files of devices running HyperOS Android 15 Beta 3 itself serves as hard proof of Xiaomi becoming prepared for the release of HyperOS 2.0. This newer version looks to be the last upgrade from MIUI and open a whole new chapter in the history of Xiaomi’s software ecosystem. While we wait for the official launch of In HyperOS 2.0, apparently, it is clear that Xiaomi has huge steps in the development of their OS. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue monitoring how HyperOS evolves, bringing to your doorstep the latest news on what to look out for in Xiaomi’s next-generation OS.

Good looks like they are basically completely removing any trace of MIUI in HyperOS 2.0 which is a great indicator that they want a proper clean canvass to move onto and work towards something fresh which is HyperOS 2.

I hope Xiaomi adds all good features from Stock Android and iOS into HyperOS. They should also do away with Poco Launcher. It’s literally the worst. Giving regular Mi Launcher in Poco phones would boost the appeal a lot.
