First global HyperOS 1.5 update is rolled out

The Xiaomi Mi 14 Ultra was the very first device in the entire world to receive the very important update for HyperOS 1.5, and this really is a milestone and a half for all Xiaomi users. This update was out two weeks ago in China but under a different name. However, the features somehow tie into whatever is now officially called HyperOS 1.5.

Global Rollout Begins

While the Chinese variants of the update were ambiguously labeled OS1.0 and OS0.0 on update servers, global distribution clarifies this to be part of a larger release of HyperOS 1.5. Xiaomi 14 Ultra users within the European Economic Area and India are becoming the first to get a flavor of this global update, marked OS1.0.9.0.UNAEUXM and OS1.0.7.0.UNAINXM respectively, in their regions.

Installation Options

There are two ways of installing the update by users.

  1. Auto Update: This is the simplest way, the device can be updated automatically from settings.
  2. Manual Installation: Those who want to have more control over the process or wish to update devices en masse, without waiting for the update, may download an update file and install it.

What’s New in HyperOS 1.5?

Xiaomi has included a flurry of enhancements and fixes to improve the user experience and system security. Here’s a closer look at the changes.

System

  • Security Patch: The update brings the June 2024 security patch to enhance system security overall.

Control Center

  • Fix: Fixed a bug with some toggles that sometimes failed. Better responsiveness, supporting and allowing a smoother work experience for users.

Lock Screen

  • Optimization: The update introduces a new kind of “press and hold to edit” logic for the Lock screen. This greatly cuts down on accidental triggers.

Calculator

  • Optimization: The sensitivities of buttons in Calculator have been enhanced for responsiveness and accuracy.

Security

  • Optimization: Creation of optimization score rules are modified; whereby now, it will give a more close-to-accurate measure of the security posture of the device.

Status Bar and Notification Shade

  • Fixed issues whereby single-line notification icons were not displayed in full.
  • A problem where blank notifications appeared showing only the icon has been resolved.
  • Corrected 5G icon display status bar after changing font size or switching to a third-party font.

Implications for Users

This update thus becomes extremely useful to Xiaomi 14 Ultra users by improving not only the security ecosystem but also bringing an increased level of finesse and removing several annoying bugs from the user interface. Notably, control center improvements, lock screen, and notification handling address some of the common irritations that are usually reported by users.

Xiaomi is, therefore, taking a very crucial step toward timely and substantial updates for its users base with the global release of HyperOS 1.5 on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra first. Besides enhanced features, users will find a bunch of optimizations and fixes that make this interaction more secure and user-friendly. As Xiaomi continues the expansion for more of its devices regarding the availability of HyperOS 1.5, users of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra basically can brag about enjoying these improvements ahead of everyone else.
