[Exclusive] POCO M7 5G coming to India this month

Xiaomi just dropped a bomb in the budget smartphone segment. Launching the Redmi 14R 5G in their home market of China, news has it that they are about to make their global launches under not one or two but three different names. First announced in China only three days ago, the Redmi 14R 5G is now confirmed to launch as the POCO M7 5G in India. But that’s not where this ends. Gizmochina author Erencan Yılmaz has learned that the device will also be sold as the Redmi 14C 5G in both global and Indian markets.

Why So Many Names?

It is probably for the multi-branding strategy, reaching wider audiences, targeting diverse market segments. POCO can help the company gain younger and more tech-savvy consumers, while Redmi can provide value for money.

What to Expect

Whichever way the naming convention goes, the device under both those brands would largely remain similar. In no particular order, here are some of the key features that one should expect from Redmi 14R 5G or POCO M7 5G and the Redmi 14C 5G:

  •  6.88-inch 720p LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
  • Entry Level chipset: Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.
  • A capable 13MP main camera complemented by a 5MP selfie shooter.
  • Long-lasting 5160mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

Moreover, there’s also a some codes about the device featuring a 50MP rear camera with an 8MP front camera from the Mi Code.

Pricing and Availability

It is tipped to carry a price tag of around $150, which will make it extremely competitive in the budget segment. Though India will be the first confirmed market for the POCO M7 5G, we know it will eventually see a wider launch.

That’s bold on the part of Xiaomi to decide upon launching the same device under three different names. The company will offer more options in branding that would obviously bring in more buyers and also help it keep a grip on the highly competitive budget smartphone market.
