Countdown begins: Six Xiaomi devices to stop receiving updates in 2026

Countdown Begins: Six Xiaomi Devices Expected to Achieve EOL Status by 2026 The good thing is that the company practices an open software update policy to promote user security. However, every tech device has its technical limit. In the next few months of 2026, certain iconic models of the Xiaomi as well as Redmi series will officially achieve the End of Life (EOL) status. This implies that the models will not be supported in terms of security patches or system updates.

The End of Life (EOL) Support Cycle Explained

The Software Life Cycle is one of the important aspects one needs to be aware of as a smartphone owner. This is because the vendor delivers regular upgrades to ensure the device is well protected against the latest forms of digital threats and the interface is improved. The device is declared outdated when it attains the end-of-life stage. During this phase, the developer does not develop new software innovations exclusive to the device model. In this state, the device will still work.

Xiaomi Flagship Models Reaching EOL in 2026

Xiaomi 12 series and the 12T series were a big success for Xiaomi with their impressive camera capabilities and power management systems. Based on the support schedules provided by Xiaomi for their respective devices, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, being flagships, are going to meet their EOL deadline in March 2026. These flagships are going to have “HyperOS 3” as their final major operating system release. The Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro are going to meet their EOL deadline in October 2026.

The mid-range series smartphones such as Redmi Note 12 5G and the entry-level smartphones Redmi 12C also have particular times for their support end within the year. Redmi Note 12 5G will reach the end of its software support times within March 2026, thus completing its life cycle under the HyperOS 2. On the other hand, the budget smartphone Redmi 12C will also complete the support lifecycle within early 2026. For individuals who own smartphones within these categories, we recommend the usage of the ‘MemeOS Enhancer’ app.

For People Using the Affected Devices

Having your smartphone on the 2026 EOL list means it is high time to start looking for an upgrade. The latest flagships come with new Snapdragon 8 Elite processors that promise unmatched efficiency. Mid-budget buyers may find it interesting to see new POCO offerings or new versions from the Xiaomi T series. Keeping yourself updated with new software will ensure your personal details stay secured while you get access to newer features being introduced by the exploding world of Xiaomi HyperConnect.

Xiaomi focuses more on advertising future updates than actually releasing stable ones. Even flagship models suffer from delayed patches and buggy updates. Not acceptable at this price range.

I think it is disgraceful in an era of limited earth resources that perfectly working phones such as my Xiaomi 11 NE lite no longer receive security updates, leading to early unwanted disposal. I bought a Google Pixel phone last week.

Fully agree with Timothy McCarthy above. The consideration is quite simple. If my functional well-preserved device doesn’t get update I go for another supplier providing longer support.

I bought my Xiaomi 12T Pro on March 2023, then EOL for just 3 years in my hand..
So fast.. Unimaginable.. Yet it’s not worth it to have it when there will be no more updates on it.. Soooo sad..

Even Samsung entry phone A07 will receive 6 years of Android OS updates, Galaxy Tab A11 will receive 7 years of Android OS updates.
Meantime Xiaomi phone drop updates after 3 years and newer devices even most expensive 4 years Android OS updates + 2 years of security of HyperBug 🙄🥱🤡

It is a disgrace to hear which Xiaomi and Redmi phones are at EOL. I am sure most people’s phones are still in good working order.
I liked the Redmi phones and currently have a Redmi Note 7. If my phone is at EOL, I might also consider moving to some other type with longer times for updates.

This means early next year my Redmi 13 will be in line of EOL, the worst part I bought it 11 months age well kept and good condition. The timeframe for the EOL is too short it needs to be extended or we gotta switch to other brands.
