OPPO is continuing the rollout of its latest software update as the stable Android 16-based ColorOS 16 begins reaching the OPPO F31 5G. The update is currently rolling out to a limited number of users and is expected to expand to more devices and regions in the coming days.
For now, the rollout appears to be restricted to select users in India, but OPPO typically expands such releases gradually, meaning broader availability should follow soon.
Android 16 arrives on the OPPO F31 5G
Earlier this month, OPPO shared a list of smartphones eligible for the Android 16 upgrade with ColorOS 16, and the OPPO F31 5G was included. The device is now among the first in its lineup to receive the update.
However, the current rollout is primarily targeted at beta testers, which suggests that a wider public release should begin once OPPO confirms the build is stable enough for all users.
The update arrives with firmware version:
CPH2781_16.0.4.600(EX01)
It also comes with a download size of around 2.47GB, so users are advised to connect to a stable Wi-Fi network before installing the update.
Important things to do before installing the update
Before installing the new software, OPPO recommends taking a few precautions to ensure a smooth installation.
First, make sure your device has at least 50% battery. This helps prevent interruptions during the installation process. It is also important to back up important data, as some apps may need time to adapt to the new system.
During the initial period after updating, users may notice temporary issues such as lag, increased battery drain, or slight overheating. These are common with major Android upgrades and usually disappear after the system completes background optimization.
No Dynamic Island feature (for now)
Although ColorOS 16 introduces several improvements and system optimizations, one feature many users were expecting does not appear to be included.
Early adopters report that the Dynamic Island-style feature is not available on the OPPO F31 5G after installing the update. It remains unclear whether OPPO plans to add the feature in a future update or reserve it for other models.
Even without that feature, the update still brings performance improvements, system optimizations, and bug fixes designed to enhance the overall user experience.
Public rollout starts for other OPPO F31 models
While the rollout for the OPPO F31 5G just started, reports suggest that the OPPO F31 Pro and OPPO F31 Pro+ may already be receiving the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 update in multiple regions. If you own any of these devices, you can check for the update by navigating to:
Settings → About device → Software update
As usual, the rollout is happening in phases, so it may take several days before it appears on all eligible devices.
