Apple to use technology in iPhone 17 that Xiaomi implemented five years ago

With the recent launch of the iPhone 16 still fresh, rumors about next year’s iPhone 17 series are already circulating. According to Ross Young, an expert from Display Supply Chain Consultants, the standard iPhone 17 and a slimmer version, likely called iPhone 17 Air, will both feature ProMotion technology, which enables 120Hz refresh rates. This would mark a significant upgrade from the current iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, which still have 60Hz screens.

The ProMotion technology allows the screen to scale up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and video playback, while also being able to lower its refresh rate to conserve power.

Interestingly, this technology has already been implemented by Xiaomi five years ago. In 2019, Xiaomi introduced the 120Hz refresh rate with the Redmi K30, making it one of the first devices in the market to offer such a high refresh rate for better display performance. This highlights how Apple is adopting features that have already become a standard for competitors like Xiaomi.

Apple was one of the first ones to use pro motion technology or 120hz in its iPad pro in 2017 when all the phones came with standard 60hz displays

Juanjo if you can read properly you’ll find that he never mentioned the Pro or Pro Max in his statement so it’s not fake news.

I’m still using my old Mi 11 Lite because of 6.8mm and 160 grams…it feels great in the hand but not great specs. Let’s see how much tech can Apple squeeze in a thin lightweight body
