Upcoming Update to Restore 4G and 120Hz on Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G is currently navigating a turbulent software cycle. Users are reporting a “triple threat” of bugs that significantly degrade the user experience: a complete inability to register on 4G networks, a hardware-limiting refresh rate cap, and a catastrophic recovery mode loop for specific units. While some of these issues are verified software regressions scheduled for a fix, others serve as a stark warning against unofficial device modifications.

What Caused the Issues

  1. 4G Registration Failure: A regression in the HyperOS 2.2 network stack prevents the modem from completing the LTE RRC connection, leaving users without data in non-5G areas.

  2. 60Hz Refresh Rate Limit: A configuration error in the display framework of HyperOS 2.2 is incorrectly capping the LTPO panel at 60Hz, regardless of the user’s settings. This results in a choppy UI experience that fails to utilize the device’s 120Hz capability.

  3. Recovery Mode Loop: This occurs during the Android 16 upgrade check. The system detects tampered NV Data (unauthorized hardware property modifications or illegal changes) and triggers a security lockout, forcing the device into a permanent Recovery Mode state.

Affected Device and Software Version

  • Issues: 4G Connectivity & 60Hz Limit

    • Device: Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (Global)

    • Affected Version: HyperOS 2.2

    • Status: Fix rolling out soon via OTA.

  • Issue: Recovery Mode Bootloop

    • Device: Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (India/Global)

    • Affected Version: OS2.0.205.0.VOPINXM

    • Status: No official fix. Limited strictly to tampered devices.

How the Update/Fix Improves the System

The upcoming software patch for Global users will recalibrate the display driver to unlock the full 120Hz refresh rate, restoring the smooth fluid motion expected from the device. Simultaneously, the modem firmware update will fix the PLMN selection logic, allowing the device to once again “see” and register on 4G LTE towers. These fixes will eliminate the primary daily frustrations of stuttering animations and dropped data connections.

Xiaomi’s Software Support Strategy

Xiaomi’s shift toward stricter security in HyperOS 2.2 and HyperOS 3 Android 16 means that “clean” devices will receive priority fixes, while modified units may face permanent software blocks.
