Ahead of the official unveiling, OPPO has been teasing several features of the smartwatch, and the latest reveal highlights a new contact-less car key function that could make the wearable far more useful in everyday situations.
OPPO Watch X3 goes beyond health tracking
Like most modern smartwatches, the OPPO Watch X3 will offer timekeeping and comprehensive health monitoring features. Previous reports suggest the device will include advanced health tools, including features designed to help users monitor and manage hypertension, along with guidance aimed at improving overall lifestyle habits.
However, OPPO is positioning the Watch X3 as more than just a health companion. The company is also integrating smart vehicle connectivity, allowing the watch to function as a digital car key.
Seamless contact-less car key functionality
According to the latest teaser from OPPO, the Watch X3 will feature a system-customized seamless car key that can automatically unlock compatible vehicles when the user approaches. This hands-free functionality removes the need to pull out a phone or traditional car key.
In addition to unlocking the doors, the smartwatch will allow users to control several vehicle functions through voice commands. With support for Xiaobu Voice Control, users can perform actions such as unlocking doors, opening windows, turning on the air conditioning, and opening the trunk directly from the watch.
Compatible car brands
OPPO has confirmed that the contact-less car key feature will initially support several vehicle brands. The teaser image highlights compatibility with manufacturers such as Li Auto, Leapmotor, ZEEKR, and MG.
The company also lists additional supported brands including BYD, Denza, Yangwang, Changan, Hongqi, Venucia, DeepBlue, CyberKey, Niu Technologies, and Yadea, along with a few electric mobility brands.
Global model may run Wear OS
At the moment, most of the supported vehicle brands are Chinese manufacturers. It remains unclear whether the same car key functionality will be available globally once the Watch X3 launches outside China.
Reports suggest the international version of the OPPO Watch X3 will run Wear OS and retain many of its health features. More details regarding the smartwatch’s global availability and full feature set are expected to be revealed during the official launch event.
