REDMI 15A 5G and 17 5G Full Specs Revealed Ahead of Launch

Xiaomi recently launched the POCO C85X in India, and the company plans to release this device under different names across specific regional markets. New leaks reveal that the tech giant prepares the REDMI 15A 5G, REDMI A7 Pro 5G and REDMI 17 5G for the Indian and Chinese regions. The brand intentionally skips the 16th generation for both its flagship and Note series to unify its product numbering and align with industry competitors like Apple’s iPhone. These upcoming smartphones skip a global release to focus entirely on delivering massive battery life to budget-conscious users.

REDMI 15A 5G and REDMI 17 5G Specifications

The upcoming REDMI devices share identical hardware with the POCO C85X, offering impressive endurance for the entry-level segment. Users can expect reliable performance powered by a modern Unisoc processor alongside smooth visuals. The new naming structure ensures that all major Xiaomi and REDMI lines share the same generation number moving forward, creating a more consistent catalog for consumers.

  • Unified Naming: The device launches as the REDMI 17 5G and REDMI R70m (probably canceled) in China, skipping the number 16 to match the numbering of the upcoming Xiaomi 17 series and current iPhone lineups.

  • Classic Return: In India, it arrives as the REDMI A7 Pro 5G and REDMI 15A 5G, officially bringing back the highly popular xA series for budget buyers. REDMI A7 Pro 5G global is also launched with different hardware. But in India, Xiaomi launches it in different hardware.

  • Massive Display: The phones feature a huge 6.9-inch IPS LCD screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 720 x 1600 resolution, and 810 nits peak brightness.

  • Capable Processor: A 6nm Unisoc T8300 chipset handles daily tasks efficiently and ensures stable 5G connectivity for basic operations.

  • Huge Battery: A giant 6300mAh battery provides days of uninterrupted power, supported by standard 15W wired charging.

These new devices will launch soon with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 straight out of the box. By the way, it’s worth noting that alongside ‘somalia’ and ‘arctic,’ two more devices codenamed ‘zephyr’ and ‘mist’ are also on the way. Xiaomi, which is already fielding six low-end devices under the ‘somalia’ and ‘arctic’ lines, is gearing up to expand its budget portfolio even further.
