Xiaomi se asegura el tercer puesto mundial con 170 millones de unidades

The global smartphone market is projected to reach a total production volume of 1.25 billion units by the end of 2025, representing a 2.5% increase year-over-year. According to the latest TrendForce study, this growth is driven by significant subsidies in China and a traditionally strong peak season in the second half of the year

Although Apple and Samsung are currently tied for first place, Xiaomi has firmly established itself as the world’s third-largest manufacturer. This performance highlights the brand’s resilience in a competitive landscape, even as the industry prepares for significant hardware cost increases next year.

Xiaomi maintains a strong global position amidst market changes

The smartphone sector experienced a steady recovery throughout 2025, supported by consistent demand for high-performance devices. Xiaomi, including its sub-brands REDMI and POCO, successfully navigated fluctuating supply chain conditions to maintain its high production levels. Although there was a slight 7% decrease in production in the fourth quarter as the company adjusted inventory to manage rising memory prices, the brand’s annual performance remains a testament to its global scale.

As we approach 2026, the industry faces a potential 10% decline in production due to rising memory component costs. Manufacturers are currently weighing options such as increasing terminal prices or reducing hardware specifications.

Key details of market performance

  • Xiaomi’s production volume: The company reached a total annual production of nearly 170 million units, solidifying its position as the world’s third largest smartphone brand.

  • Strategic inventory control: During the last quarter of 2025, Xiaomi proactively managed its production levels to mitigate the financial impact of expensive DRAM and NAND flash components.

  • Shift to high-end models: To stabilize profitability in 2026, Xiaomi is expected to increase the proportion of mid-to-high-end models, such as the upcoming REDMI K80 Ultra (Xiaomi 15T global series).

  • Global competition: While Apple and Samsung are tied for first place with 240 million units each, Xiaomi remains at the forefront of Chinese manufacturers, surpassing OPPO and remaining the leader in total volume.

  • Software ecosystem: The continued rollout of Xiaomi HyperOS across various price points has helped maintain user loyalty and connectivity between devices through the HyperConnect framework.

The global smartphone market remains highly competitive, and Xiaomi is successfully holding its own against the industry giants.
