Vivo continues to share more information about its upcoming flagship smartphone after teasing the device at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. While the company only showcased the external teleconverter kit during the event, it has gradually been revealing details about the phone’s powerful camera system.
Just hours after confirming the main camera specifications, Vivo has now shared new details about the periscope telephoto camera on the Vivo X300 Ultra.
200MP periscope telephoto camera with custom Samsung sensor
According to Vivo executive Han Boxiao, the Vivo X300 Ultra will feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera built using a customized Samsung HP0 sensor.
The company describes the camera as a fifth-generation ZEISS sensor system, designed to deliver better long-range photography and improved overall image quality.
Vivo also revealed that the telephoto camera will leverage its BlueImage technology, which is designed to enhance several aspects of image processing. This includes better color accuracy, autofocus performance, HDR capabilities, and improved power efficiency.
Major upgrade in image stabilization
One of the biggest improvements in the telephoto system is the upgraded stabilization.
According to Vivo, the telephoto camera will feature up to 3-degree stabilization, a significant improvement compared to the 1.2-degree stabilization seen on the previous generation.
This upgrade allows the system to achieve CIPA 7.0-level stabilization, which should significantly improve handheld photography when using zoom.
Better stabilization also means the camera can maintain longer and steadier exposures, allowing it to capture more light and retain more details in challenging conditions such as low-light environments.
Improved zoom and motion tracking
In addition to stabilization improvements, the Vivo X300 Ultra telephoto camera will also introduce enhanced focus tracking capabilities.
The system is capable of 60fps motion capture, allowing the camera to better track fast-moving subjects. This should improve performance when capturing sports, wildlife, or other dynamic scenes.
The upgraded telephoto system is expected to significantly improve zoom photography in low light, which has traditionally been one of the biggest challenges for smartphone cameras.
Vivo is yet to reveal details about the device’s ultra-wide camera, but the company has already confirmed major upgrades across the entire camera system.
With the device already generating buzz after its appearance at Mobile World Congress 2026, more information about the Vivo X300 Ultra is expected to surface in the coming weeks, with a full reveal likely later this month.
