REDMI Note 17 series codenames and model numbers leaked

A fresh batch of leaks has just revealed the first concrete details about Xiaomi’s next major mid-range lineup. Interestingly, it looks like Xiaomi might be making a massive jump in its naming convention. Instead of the expected REDMI Note 16 series, new database sightings point directly to the REDMI Note 17 series.

This move shouldn’t come as a complete shock. Xiaomi recently skipped the “Xiaomi 16” moniker for its flagship lineup, launching the Xiaomi 17 series instead as a strategic move to align its numbering with Apple’s current iPhone generation. It appears the REDMI Note series is following suit.

REDMI Note 17 series codenames

Recent findings have uncovered the internal codenames for the upcoming trio of devices, leaning heavily into a city-themed naming structure:

  • REDMI Note 17 5G (Q17) is codenamed “moscow” (Snapdragon)

  • REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G (Q16) is codenamed “brussels” (Snapdragon)

  • REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G (Q16U) is codenamed “chicago”

REDMI Note 17 series model numbers and expected launch date

Alongside the codenames, a massive list of model numbers has surfaced, revealing global (G), Indian (I), Chinese (C), and other regional variants currently in development:

  • 2607DRA18T, 2607DRA18G, 2607DRA18I, 2607DRA18C

  • 26073RA49T, 26073RA49I, 26073RA49C, 26073RA49G

  • 26081RA18G, 26081PC18G, 26081RA18L

  • 2609FRA74G, 2609FRA74I, 2609FRA74C, 2609FRA74T

For those familiar with Xiaomi’s model number structure, the first four digits are a dead giveaway for the target release window. The prefixes 2607, 2608, and 2609 indicate development targeting July through September of 2026. Given Xiaomi’s historical release cycles, we can expect the REDMI Note 17 series to make its official debut around September 2026.
