Xiaomi users recently encountered a rather intriguing update notification on the HyperOS 3. The V5.0.2.7 version update released for the Xiaomi Gallery app required users to have exactly 61,787,778 MB, or approximately 61 TB, of free space.
This absurd figure quickly went viral within the Mi Community. Users made humorous comments about this update package, which is thousands of times larger than the storage capacity of a smartphone, saying, “Xiaomi must have accidentally wanted us to download all their servers to our phones.” The error is believed to stem from a server-side comma or database error related to the update package’s size. After all, it was technically impossible for a gallery optimization patch that should only be 61.7 megabytes to appear at this size.
Fortunately, Xiaomi quickly noticed this visual error. According to the latest bug fix report, a quick intervention on the server side restored the update package to its normal size. As of now, users can update the Gallery app to its normal size without any problems.
