Redmi Note 13 series might miss the HyperOS 4 revolution

The Redmi Note 13 series, one of Xiaomi’s best-selling lineups, is officially approaching the final phase of its software lifecycle. According to official security update policies, the roadmap for these devices is set, but a major question mark remains regarding the upcoming HyperOS 4.

The Official EOL Plan: Android 16 is the Limit

According to Xiaomi’s Security Update EOL (End of Life) data, the Redmi Note 13 Pro, Pro 5G, and Pro+ 5G are scheduled to receive Android 16 as their final operating system version.

While receiving three major Android updates is a solid commitment for mid-range devices, the operating system version does not always guarantee the latest interface features.

The “Update Trap”: Learning from Xiaomi 12T

There is a growing concern among users based on recent precedents. Devices like the Redmi Note 13 5G and Xiaomi 12T recently reached their EOL with Android 15.

The REDMI Note 13 and Xiaomi 12T could have received the Android 15-based HyperOS 3 update, but unfortunately, Xiaomi did not. This is causing growing concern among users.

If Xiaomi decides that the hardware cannot support the new architecture, the Redmi Note 13 Pro series could end its life on the latest Android base but without the upcoming Xiaomi HyperOS 4.

HyperOS 4: A Complete System Rewrite

The stakes are high because HyperOS 4 is to be a massive overhaul rather than a simple visual update.

The big question is whether the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 (in the Pro) and Dimensity 7200 Ultra (in the Pro+) are considered capable of handling this new Flutter/Rust-based architecture.

We likely won’t know for sure until August or September, when Xiaomi officially unveils HyperOS 4. Until then, Redmi Note 13 Pro users can rest assured they will get Android 16, but the “revolutionary” interface update remains a gamble.
