One of the most beloved parts of the Xiaomi ecosystem, the HyperOS 3 Gallery and Gallery Editor, is no longer exclusive to Xiaomi devices. Thanks to the efforts of the modding community, a successful port is now available, allowing users on nearly any smartphone running Android 12+ to utilize these powerful media tools.
This development brings Xiaomi’s advanced photo processing algorithms and sleek interface to users of other brands like Samsung, Pixel, and OnePlus.
What’s New? Key Features
The ported version retains the visual overhaul of HyperOS 3 and brings many of its AI-assisted tools to the broader Android world.
-
Advanced Photo Editing: As seen in the screenshots, professional-grade adjustments are available under tabs like “Tone,” “Colors,” and “Details,” including sliders for Exposure, Highlights, and Shadows.
-
AI Capabilities: The interface retains toggles for “AI Beautify” and “Ultra HD,” suggesting that the port attempts to preserve Xiaomi’s capabilities for upscaling low-resolution photos or enhancing portraits.
-
Video Editor: The built-in video editor comes fully equipped with creative templates such as “Atmosphere,” “Nostalgia,” and “Timeless” (Vlog mode). It supports both automatic (AI) generation and manual (Custom) editing.
Compatibility & Requirements
The best aspect of this port is its wide range of support.
-
Android Version: Your device must be running Android 12 or a newer version.
-
Brand Agnostic: It works seamlessly on various interfaces, whether it is Stock Android, OneUI, or OxygenOS.

This port is an excellent alternative for users who find the stock gallery apps of other manufacturers lacking. You no longer need to buy a Xiaomi phone to experience the fluid animations and powerful editing tools of HyperOS.

LOL nobody buy a Xiaomi for the software.
As far the most buggy overlay compared with the A tier brands.
They have to focus on hardware because what I see in their shop is not comparable against other specialized brands. They just make products at random and than the serie of the product continues or stop. No structure, I think not any pattent on an product. Just copy like 10 years ago
Software wise I agree Johannes, I reckon theirs always was rather buggy, but on the hardware side of things I still remember when they unveiled the Mix some 10 years ago, it was quite nice, a breath of fresh air so to speak. These days, I’m not as impressed, but I still like some of their stuff (not fond of the current “everything rounded” trend).
It’s too bad they don’t put user experience first (anymore if they did at some point), I would have liked to see less ads and “recommendations”, and proper (timely) support, with usability and common sense in mind. I don’t know if the ecosystem is as fragmented as it used to be, I’m not referring to just China first, global second, but among devices from the same channel as well. Nowadays, even notification priorities are missing from the UI 😔
