Xiaomi has just waved their magic wand on a new launch in their wizarding collaboration series, introducing the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Harry Potter Edition on their Weibo account today. It is no ordinary skin; the device boasts a heavily customized design and an incredibly large battery that sounds pretty promising on paper. Of course, the “magical” design is what gets all the hype, but what’s underneath is even more so for power users. First, its battery capacity is rivaled only by power banks, and its features in terms of software are meant to replace your laptop altogether—it’s going to be a powerhouse in a package that’s a collector’s item.
TL;DR
- Massive Power: It comes with an unusual 12,000mAh battery and offers 69 days of standby time.
- Magical Design: Has laser-engraved Hogwarts crest and “Preppy Style” organizer bag.
- Best Display: Comes with 12.1-inch 2.5K eye protection display with 120Hz refresh
- China Exclusive: Exclusively available in China, may be renamed as a POCO product worldwide.
A Design Worthy of Hogwarts
Xiaomi hasn’t been holding back with the theming here. The back of this tablet boasts a “traditional Hogwarts school crest engraving,” which “is imbued with magical significance.” This isn’t a theme that’s been applied to a tablet alone, mind you; it comes with a “Preppy Style Organizer Bag” that will “help students keep their technology in check and provide outfit inspiration.” The software experience also receives a “spell cast” upon it. The tablet will boot up in a Customized Magic Theme, complete with elements such as Platform 9 3/4.
There is also a special edition line of protective cases and styluses being released by Xiaomi for collectors looking to complete their “magic” set.
12,000mAh: Battery Monster
Aside from its design, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro also boasts a considerable improvement in its hardware. The most noticeable feature of this tablet is its 12,000mAh battery, which is larger compared to the typical 10,000mAh battery capacity of its rivals. We are especially pleased with the feature of 27W wired reverse charging. This makes the device a giant external battery, so you can recharge your smartphone or headphones when you are in a meeting or anywhere else. Xiaomi claims the device has a standby time of up to 69 days, so that the device is always ready when you take it out of your bag.
PC-Level Productivity?
It comes equipped with a 12.1-inch 2.5K ultra-clear screen, which is specifically designed for Xiaomi HyperOS. To increase productivity, it is compatible with PC software, such as WPS Office and CAJ file viewers, thus acting as a good replacement for a laptop for students.
Note: Due to the extensive use of Chinese software optimization, the importation of the device without Global ROM is not recommended. This application can be updated by the user through our other project: HyperOSUpdates.com, or through our application: MemeOS Enhancer, available through the Play Store. With the installation of the MemeOS application, the user will also be able to access hidden features of the Xiaomi device.
Can the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Launch Internationally?
At present, Redmi Pad 2 Pro Harry Potter Edition is only available to Chinese consumers. But following Xiaomi’s logic on market launches, it’s most probable that the regular edition of this tablet would hit global shores. REDMI Pad 2 Pro is already on sale in global markets but without the Harry Potter theme.
