Xiaomi just dropped the REDMI Turbo 5 Max design

REDMI is blurring lines between mid-rangers with performance emphasis and flagship offerings once again. The company has just launched the design of what they call their “most flagship-quality performance phone to date,” the REDMI Turbo 5 Max. What leaps out at first glance is not merely the design aspect but also the audacity of the specs that have been incorporated into this device. Right from a tremendous battery advancement to a robust design that does away with plastic once and for all, this smartphone appears all set to disrupt the sector.

TL;DR

  • Crazy Power: Equipped with a record-breaking 9,000mAh battery, which is the biggest battery Xiaomi.
  • Premium Build: The phone now sports a premium build quality, courtesy of an improved CNC metal frame and a top-notch fiberglass back panel.
  • Unique Aesthetic: Features a “Sea Breeze Blue” scheme and a dual-ring turbine light stripe.
  • Global Rebranding: This device will be globally launched as POCO X8 Pro Max.

Is This the Best Looking Performance Phone Yet?

Performance phones usually compromise when it comes to design, but it appears that the REDMI Turbo 5 Max is defying the trend here. The official launch event reveals a device boasting beautiful large rounded corners and bezels that are almost nonexistent. Goodbye plastic frame of yesteryear. The phone features a CNC metal frame and a top-of-the-line fiberglass back panel. The decision to go with this material should provide a texture that feels like it costs ten times as much as it does. The camera module, which can often be an area of contention in terms of design, boasts a “metal racetrack-shaped Deco” design. The most noticeable aspect, however, is the “twin ring turbine light strip.” This is probably just a notification LED or gaming lighting strip and gives the laptop its futuristic touch, especially with its new color variant, “Sea Breeze Blue.”

A Battery Breakthrough: 9,000mAh Capacity

Although the design is impressive, the battery technology is the real highlight here. Lu Weibing, General Manager of the Xiaomi brand, officially confirmed that the REDMI TURBO 5 MAX comes with a staggering 9,000mAh ultra-large capacity battery. This is the largest Xiaomi High-Density Silicon-Carbon Battery, also known as the “Jinshajiang,” to be released. It boasts an energy density of 894Wh/L, promising to last the entire day even when used in the heaviest distinct way.

Global Launch: Introducing the POCO X8 Pro Max

For our international readers, this phone will not be seen in stores under the name “Redmi.” We can confirm that the REDMI Turbo 5 Max will be released in the international market under the name POCO X8 Pro Max. However, there is an important point to note about this huge battery. The batteries launched in the global market are generally of lower capacity than those launched in the Chinese market. Whereas the Chinese variant has access to the full 9,000mAh battery, we do expect a slightly lower capacity battery in the global POCO X8 Pro Max because of different safety standards and fast-charging setups. Even then, it is going to be a battery leader in the global mid-range market.

What’s Next?

Given that we now know what to expect in terms of design and battery, we are just waiting for official word on what processor to expect, which will likely be a flagship-level chip to go along with “Max” branding. If POCO can keep the price low and keep this metal build, this could certainly be the flagship killer of 2026.
