Exclusive: REDMI K100 ‘Athens’ and Max ‘Songyuan’ spotted

The REDMI K series has, for the longest time, set the benchmark for what constitutes a “flagship killer.” Before we even finish processing the latest series, new and exciting details have emerged for the next REDMI K100 series.

We have managed to dig up the codenames and model numbers of not one, but two upcoming devices, which seem to be the REDMI K100 and the flagship offering, the REDMI K100 Pro Max. If trends are any indication, these devices will be available in the global market as POCO devices.

TL;DR

  • REDMI K100: This device has been seen with the codename athens and Q11.
  • REDMI K100 Pro Max has the codename songyuan and the model number Q11X.
  • Both smartphones will be backed by high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
  • These are anticipated to be launched worldwide as POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra.

Unraveling the Leak: Athens and Songyuan

As per the latest information, Xiaomi is working on two different models for the said series. The normal REDMI K100 comes with the codename athens and the model number Q11.

On top of the series is the higher-end model, the REDMI K100 Pro Max. This model has a codename of songyuan and a model number of Q11X.

This model number shows a very interesting change in the naming trends of Xiaomi. In the past model numbers of the ‘Pro’ or high-end series, the suffix ‘U’ was seen. But with the changeover to the ‘Max’ series, as seen with the REDMI K90 series, it appears the ‘U’ has been replaced with ‘X’ for the new series.

What does this mean for Global users?

Although these devices are a part of the Redmi K series and are available in Chinese markets, these devices never remain confined to Chinese markets. According to this leak, these devices are expected to enter the global market with a different name, which is POCO F9 series.

Specifically, the Redmi K100 (athens) is expected to transform into the POCO F9 Pro, and the flagship Redmi K100 Pro Max (songyuan) is expected to debut as the POCO F9 Ultra.

This falls in line with past plans, where Redmi’s performance-oriented “K” series was given a new purpose for enhancing POCO’s flagship “F” series worldwide.

Beneath the Hood: Qualcomm Power

The leak has confirmed that both Athens and Songyuan will come with Qualcomm processors.

Considering the naming convention of “Pro Max” and “Ultra,” it is very likely that these phones will come equipped with the next generation of flagship processors, perhaps a successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Hello good evening!!! I am a Xiaomi user, I really like Xiaomi phones. But I have something to say to the company. Please give global names to Xiaomi Redmi 16 or Redmi 17 Pro Max and so on. I am here from Manaus Amazonas Brazil. We have many consumers of the brand here. Xiaomi needs to end the cleaning system for Android to run better, and remove from the system HyperOS apps that consume more battery and put a better, smoother system for Android… to beat Apple.
