Xiaomi has launched a new 45W GaN charger that is incredibly small

Xiaomi is leading the market with its newly launched product in its Mijia series. The company has formally introduced Little Magic Cube 45W GaN Charger, a highly compact power charger that is a must-have for today’s multiple device users.

Of course, we’ve already seen many chargers that are based on GaN technology, but what makes this one special is its titanium silver-gray design, along with its extremely compact size. It claims to offer a “one size fits all” solution that won’t occupy any room in your bag while charging your Xiaomi Pad and Xiaomi Band.

TL;DR

  • Power Output: 45W single USB-C port supporting Xiaomi HyperOS charging protocols.
  • Ultra Compact: Comprises just 38x32x32mm and weighs a mere 64g
  • Pricing: It is currently available in China only at a price of 69 CNY (approximately 10 USD)
  • What’s in the Box: Includes a high-quality 1-meter 60W USB-C cable.

What Makes the Little Magic Cube Special?

It’s called the “Little Magic Cube,” and it’s a proof of how much GaN technology has evolved. Thanks to this technology, Xiaomi has managed to squeeze in 45W of power in a package that’s no bigger than what you’d expect from a “sugar cube” from ten years ago, which had an output of 5W.

Personally, I am very much in love with the foldable prongs, which ensure that other devices are not scratched when they are placed together in a pocket or backpack. I also noticed that it comes with just a single USB-C port.

Is It Compatible With Your Non-Xiaomi Devices?

Though designed for optimization in the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem, along with support for Surge Charge, this charging device is unexpectedly versatile. It is compatible with a broad spectrum of industry norms, such as Power Delivery (PD)SCPFCP, and AFP.

What this means is that you can easily charge your iPhoneSamsung Galaxy, or even your ultrabook with it. Based on our evaluation, a 45W charging speed is the “sweet spot” for charging your Xiaomi Pad 6 or MacBook Air.

Design and Build Quality

The titanium silver gray color scheme of this device gives it a premium, metallic look that matches the latest flagships in the market today. This device has a 64g weight, but it feels quite dense and of premium quality, as expected of Mijia products.

The internal safety chips are able to process international voltage inputs. That makes it a very good option for international travelers who may want a good block for their Xiaomi Band 10.

What Next for Xiaomi Charging Tech?

Even though the product is at the moment exclusive to the China market, it is only a matter of time before it appears at other global marketplaces like AliExpress. These charging devices have always seen a global relaunch in the past under the brand names Xiaomi or POCO accessories. With Snapdragon 8 Elite phones soon to require more efficient power delivery, it’s likely that Xiaomi will take these GaN designs to an even further extent. A 67W variant of this “Cube” design could soon become a reality.
