Xiaomi confirms new REDMI Pad is coming

Xiaomi is now ready for its next big play in the world of tablets. Wei Siqi, the General Manager of the Marketing Department of Xiaomi China, has begun a public survey for a new REDMI Pad, which means that its development has begun for 2026. This comes hot on the heels of the phenomenal success of the REDMI K Pad (or Xiaomi Pad Mini worldwide) that disrupted the small tablet segment last year. We are witnessing a transition where consumer sentiment is helping create the next wave of Xiaomi HyperOS tablets.

TL;DR: What’s Coming Next?

  • New REDMI Pad Official: Xiaomi is actively gathering feedback for their new affordable powerhouse.
  • Mini Tablet Future: There is an official announcement of a “mini” successor on the way, although fans have to “wait a little longer.”
  • Critical Upgrades: These include eSIM technologyfingerprint recognition, and better audio.
  • China Exclusive Logic: Like the K series phones, these too rebrand under POCO or Xiaomi Pad elsewhere in the world.

What Users Want from the New REDMI Pad

The new REDMI Pad has attracted the attention I have been monitoring the strategy of Xiaomi in the tablet market for a number of years, and this latest survey is very revealing. The survey by Wei Siqi focuses specifically on why people purchased the past versions and their expectations for the next version of the REDMI Pad. The community feedback came pouring in. Many users felt that although the current hardware is amazing, it is lacking some necessary “Pro” features such as fingerprint recognition and eSIM connectivity. Wei Siqi replied to this with a “Received,” which is a clear indicator that such features are planned for inclusion in the next version.

Is a New “Mini” Tablet Finally on the Way?

Among the most popular inquiries from the community was about the compact 8-inch form factor’s eventual fate. Now that the REDMI K Pad has arrived in June 2025, gamers have longed for its eventual release to finally compete with the likes of the iPad Mini. Wei Siqi has officially confirmed the news, saying, “You’ll have to wait a little longer for mini-tablets, but they’ll be available.” This confirms that Xiaomi is definitely not abandoning the market for small-screen flagships, even as they prioritize the regular REDMI Pad line first.

Powering the Next Generation: Hardware & Software

The REDMI K Pad was no joke, boasting a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor and an impressive 165Hz LCD display. It was released in China for around $390 USD (2799 Yuan), including a 7500mAh battery with a distinctive dual USB Type-C port design. We are also looking forward to the new models that will further integrate with the Xiaomi HyperConnect service, allowing users to seamlessly share files as well as mirror their screen in the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem.

What’s Next for REDMI Tablets?

Looking ahead, we see that the upcoming REDMI Pad will first be released in China before it hits Global markets. Based on what we can see from the survey, we can look forward to an improved device that has symmetric bezels and greatly enhanced audio quality. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing whether they will opt for a Snapdragon 8 Elite variant for their “Pro” series. For now, the emphasis continues to be on finetuning their mid-range offerings, which has made REDMI Pad a household name.
