Xiaomi is all set to release its latest model, named POCO M8 5G, on January 8, 2026. The arrival of this smartphone series is a remarkable change in the mid-range segment because it provides long-term software updates to its users. According to its specifications, this smartphone model “will receive 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches.” With this smartphone, users will be able to enjoy more Xiaomi HyperOS services with enhanced security measures to safeguard personal information of users on POCO.

The POCO M8 5G has a major priority when it comes to durability and build quality. It has an MIL-STD-810H certification, which is a military-level durability certification. The phone has also achieved a GL Pendulum test of 200 times and a drop test of a distance of up to 1.7 meters. This is higher than the normal industry standards of a drop test of up to 1.5 meters. The phone also has an IP68 rating, which is dust and water resistant.
It has a very slim design, measuring only 7.35mm. This is despite it being lightweight at 178 grams. It has a 6.77-inch Curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3200nits. This display is protected by a shatter-resistant material called Gorilla Glass 7i. This is to make it resistant to scratches.
