The “Xiaomi SU7” successor, the next-generation model, is rumored to launch in the second quarter of next year, as reported by various sources within the Chinese automotive community through Chinese tech bloggers. Rumors have it that the coming model will feature various technological upgrades, coupled with a presumed price tag increment of about “20,000 yuan or USD 2,800”. This news comes in the wake of the exceptional performance of the previous version, the Xiaomi SU7, and the staged movement to shift the model to a higher positioning by Xiaomi Auto.
What To Expect From The Next-Generation Xiaomi SU7 Facelift
Initial reports imply that when Xiaomi finally releases its SU7 model, it shall not be only an upgrade, but more of an optimization involving driving and car user experience. Even before its official specs have been collaboratively verified, it is already certain that its price is going up significantly.
Xiaomi Auto has been working on upgrading their smart vehicle system, particularly in fields such as assisted driving algorithms, interaction in cockpits, and optimized battery performance. The upgraded SU7 is expected to reap these benefits, making it a more mature model in a competitive Chinese electric vehicle market.
Current Xiaomi SU7 Series Models (Available In China)
The previous model, named the Xiaomi SU7 series, has been launched in March 2024 and has been available in China alone at this stage. There are three different levels available in this series to meet different requirements regarding performance and range.
-
Xiaomi SU7 (Standard):
Single-motor configuration, balanced performance, and long CLTC-rated range, aimed at daily urban and intercity use. -
Xiaomi SU7 Pro:
Enhanced battery capacity and the addition of LiDAR hardware, enabling more advanced intelligent driving capabilities. -
Xiaomi SU7 Max:
Dual-motor setup with significantly higher acceleration performance, extended driving range, and a more advanced intelligent cockpit experience.
All variants come with an emphasis on Xiaomi’s smart ecosystem, offering car operation, navigation, and entertainment in an integrated digital cockpit. Pricing on these variants is given in Chinese yuan, and so far, SU7 variants are only announced in China.
Faster Deliveries and Growing Demand
Xiaomi Auto is also embarking on enhancing delivery efficiency. As communicated in November messages, delivery times have been optimized to be shorter for the SU7 lineup of models. This comes as a result of enhanced output capacities that are accompanied by high demand.
The shorter waiting times imply that Xiaomi is working towards making its supply chain and production chain more optimal, an aspect that is imperative, especially given its forthcoming next generation device. This is projected to ensure a smooth flow during the SU7 production next year.
Facelift Signals and Market Positioning
Meanwhile, the rumor of new generation launches, there have been hints from insiders about the development of the re-designed Xiaomi SU7. This is an indication that Xiaomi Auto is embracing the high frequency of iterations, similar to the case of Xiaomi phones.
This time, the next-generation SU7 with the higher price tag will not only indicate Xiaomi’s optimism towards the automotive industry and technology sector but also reveal the brand’s positioning and attempt to put itself into the premium segment of the Chinese domestic car market. Xiaomi will not only target budget-conscious customers with the next-generation SU7 but also attempt to target the technology-savvy audience in the country.
