The Xiaomi Smart Ecosystem announced a significant milestone today: Xiaomi smart door locks have been ranked first in sales in China for five consecutive years, with total shipments already surpassing 8 million units. This milestone is indicative of the strong position Xiaomi occupies in the smart home security market and demonstrates users’ trust in its products persistently.
Xiaomi Dominates China’s Smart Door Lock Market
According to Xiaomi’s official statement, shipment data is based on information collected from Xiaomi’s internal data center and major e-commerce statistics platforms, covering data from March 2019 to October 2025. The “China No. 1” title refers specifically to sales leadership in the traditional online e-commerce market between October 2021 and October 2025. The tracked platforms include major channels like Tmall, JD.com, and Suning; market data comes from Lotu Technology’s China Smart Lock Retail Market Monthly Tracking reports.
This long-term leadership substantiates Xiaomi’s ability to combine competitive hardware design with AI-powered security features and smart ecosystem integrations. Xiaomi has been actively expanding the portfolio of smart door locks, placing great emphasis on reliability, user friendliness, and cross-device connectivity within the Xiaomi Smart Home Ecosystem.
Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 Price and Key Features
Recently, Xiaomi introduced the newest Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 in China, with an initial retail price of 3,299 CNY. The effective price after government subsidies is 2,804.15 CNY. Since the device was only launched officially in China, Xiaomi has yet to confirm global availability or international pricing in USD.
Most of the core hardware in the M40 is carried over from the Pro model, save for two major changes: the removal of palm vein recognition and the shrinking of the built-in display from 5 inches to 4.94 inches. Otherwise, the lock retains its advanced AI dual-camera panoramic door viewer that combines a 175-degree 3MP primary camera with a 128-degree 2MP secondary camera for wide-area monitoring.
Advanced Security & Xiaomi HyperOS Smart Integration
The Mi Smart Door Lock M40 comes fitted with a self-developed, noise-reducing fully automatic lock body and a direct-insertion C-level lock cylinder. It supports up to 12 different methods of unlocking, including AI 3D structured light face recognition and AI-enhanced fingerprint recognition. In the event of a low-light environment, it has provided six night vision fill lights and numerous night vision modes to guarantee the clarity of visibility around the door area.
Power management is designed for reliability, featuring a dual-mode power system: the onboard lithium battery lasts up to 4.5 months, while the backup dry-cell battery system further extends operation up to 6 months. Furthermore, there’s an external emergency Type-C charging port, while support for wireless reverse charging from compatible smartphones is also available.
The smart connectivity features are centered on Xiaomi HyperOS and Xiaomi HyperConnect, offering a cross-screen interactive experience. One can view door status and camera feeds on smartphones, smart TVs, and even compatible Xiaomi car infotainment systems. The lock also supports WeChat audio and video intercom and can be fully managed via the Mi Home app. Users can keep Mi Home and related system apps updated through HyperOSUpdates.com or the MemeOS Enhancer app available on the Play Store.
