Ahead of the debut of the next generation of mobile photography, new leaks about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra are surfacing. Images taken of its photography kit have given a clear view of the rear camera arrangement and have contradicted all earlier reports. Contrary to speculation over the possibility of a quad-camera, these renders hint at a significant design shift. The newly leaked accessory confirms a triple camera setup on the device, streamlining hardware while integrating advanced sensors for better imagery under HyperOS.
Refined Optical Architecture
The visual identity of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra seems to retain the iconic, round module look found on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The most intriguing detail coming from the photography kit, however, is the lack of a fourth lens opening; instead of the fourth camera, the layout has included space for a special sensor, confirming the reduction from four to three distinct camera units. A strategic change in this direction indicates an optimization of specific focal lengths and sensor sizes rather than an increase in lens count.
During the development phase, several sensor configurations were tested under the codename “Nezha.” The list of all tested camera sensors for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is as follows:

- nezha_sunny_ov50m_ultra
- nezha_sunny_s5kjn5_tele
- nezha_s5kjn5_ultra
- nezha_semco_ovx10500u_wide
- nezha_semco_s5khpe_tele
The retail design validated by these renders suggests that the final configuration has been consolidated.
Expected Camera Specifications:
- Main Camera: 50MP OVX10500U
- Telephoto: 200MP S5KHPE
- Ultrawide: 50MP OV50M or 50MP S5KJN5
- Front Camera: 50MP OV50M
Performance and Software Integration
Beyond the optical hardware, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra promises to be a powerful device in terms of processing. It’ll have HyperOS 3 out of the box for seamless software integration and an advanced set of AI features. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, which is positioned to show clear efficiency gains compared to predecessors.
Moreover, connectivity remains one of the strong points for the brand. It has indeed been confirmed that the Global market version will support satellite communication, thus guaranteeing connectivity even in really remote areas.
