Xiaomi has announced that the OpenVela Global Developer Conference will be held on October 17, 2025, at Hyatt Place San Jose/Pinares, in Costa Rica. The event, jointly organized by OpenVela and NuttX, is being hailed by Xiaomi’s open-source ecosystem and the global developer community of IoTs. The conference aims at fostering unity in the open-source segment and driving the development of smart connected devices with the hordes of Xiaomi HyperConnect power.
What Is OpenVela?
OpenVela is an embedded software platform for IoT that is owned by Xiaomi and which is utilizing the open-source real-time operating system NuttX. It is supported in all sorts of smart hardware devices and offers lightweight, flexible, and scalable system environment. The platform is supported with just 8KB of memory, supports any SoC multi-core architecture, and is supported across several hardware configurations.
This is the basis for much of Xiaomi’s smart home and AIoT devices, with the aim of stability, security, and power-efficient power management. Being an open-source platform, the devs can contribute to the platform, increase the compatibility, and create future smart solutions within the Xiaomi’s HyperConnect platform.
Widely Support Hardware and Language
OpenVela supports different architectures like ARM32, ARM64, RISC-V, Xtensa, MIPS, and CEVA, according to the technical details of Xiaomi. The native programming language used is C/C++ mainly, and quick applications may be developed in JavaScript, which provides the flexibility and developer-blessed environment.
This cross-platform potential means OpenVela can be used across the entire gamut of devices—from wearables and IoT sensors to large industrial applications—thus making it one of the most flexible-used-where-you-please platforms in the entire open-source space.
Conference Keynotes and Guests
The forthcoming OpenVela Global Developer Conference is going to amass:
- Principal maintainers of the open-source NuttX and OpenVela communities
- Global Tech Experts in the field of AIoT
- Project leaders and senior engineers in Xiaomi’s ecological circle
There will be discussions involving open-source collaboration models, lightweight OS architecture, and edge intelligent computing. The latter will be aimed at expanding the horizon of the embedding of the AI technology.
A Step Towards a More Uniteed World
By organizing the OpenVela Global Developer Conference, Xiaomi is once again showing the strength of its open innovation and global cooperation. The event not only solidifies Xiaomi’s presence in the operating system of IoT space but also solidifies its position in becoming the leader in intelligent device ecosystems.
With the growing ecosystem of Xiaomi’s HyperConnect, OpenVela is expected to be at the center of bringing smart devices together in action, allowing global developers to contribute to an increasingly interconnected and seamless digital space.
