Xiaomi first to launch Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 phone

Xiaomi is officially first in line to debut a smartphone powered by the just-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor. Qualcomm confirmed the news in their Q3 2025 earnings call, further cementing Xiaomi’s status as a major player in flagship mobile tech. The move underscores the deepening partnership between the two companies, with both sides clearly focused on advancing AI-driven mobile performance.

Qualcomm Delivers Strong Q3 2025 Results

On the financial front, Qualcomm delivered solid results this quarter, posting $10.4 billion in revenue—a 10% year-over-year jump. Their QCT business (that’s the division handling chips for phones and more) drove much of that, with $6.32 billion in mobile chip sales alone. Notably, growth in the automotive and IoT sectors hit 21% and 24% respectively, reflecting Qualcomm’s ongoing diversification efforts. CEO Cristiano Amon credited these gains to strategic investments in AI and edge computing, which are clearly resonating with partners and customers alike.

Strategic Partnerships Drive Momentum

During the same call, CEO Amon highlighted Qualcomm’s close alignment with top Android manufacturers, including both Xiaomi and Samsung. The current Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset already powers more than 120 devices released this year, and the partnership with Xiaomi extends across multiple generations—clearly not just a one-time collaboration. This approach enables both companies to stay ahead of the curve in flagship performance and AI integration, especially in the highly competitive Chinese market.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2: What’s Next

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 is set to make its official debut at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in late September 2025. CFO Akash Palkhiwala described market interest as “tremendous,” with multiple OEM partners lining up for launches.

Key expected features include:

  • AI advancements: Enhanced neural processing for smarter, faster apps
  • Performance gains: Next-gen CPU and GPU architectures
  • Efficiency upgrades: Better power management for longer battery life
  • Connectivity: Support for the latest 5G and Wi-Fi standards

With Xiaomi at the helm for the Gen 2 launch, both brands are positioned to define the next chapter of premium Android smartphones. For Xiaomi, it’s another win in the race to deliver cutting-edge technology to consumers ahead of the competition.
