HyperOS 2.2 Global Beta breaks gestures on some REDMI models

Xiaomi has released a formal bug report via its community channels, directly addressing persistent gesture navigation issues impacting the Redmi Note 13 lineup. This communication focuses on problems with full-screen gesture functionality that emerged after recent HyperOS updates, and underscores Xiaomi’s commitment to maintaining product reliability and user satisfaction.

Impacted Devices and Software Versions

The bug primarily affects the following devices and firmware versions:

  • Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G (OS2.0.201.0.VNOEUXM, Beta)
  • Redmi Note 13 (OS2.0.201.0.VNHEUXM, Partial rollout)

Users on these builds have reported that full-screen gesture navigation intermittently fails to register inputs, resulting in navigation challenges and a diminished user experience. Issues are also compounded when utilizing third-party launchers.

Root Cause and Technical Analysis

Xiaomi’s engineering team has determined that recent alterations to system settings—specifically, adjustments to launcher configuration processes—have inadvertently disrupted the interface between gesture recognition and the device’s touch input processing. This has led to inconsistent gesture response and navigation failures.

The company notes that similar gesture-related issues have occurred in earlier product lines, suggesting a recurring compatibility concern following major system updates.

Resolution Plan

Xiaomi has confirmed that its development team is actively working on a targeted software update to resolve these navigation issues. A fix is expected to be delivered in the coming weeks.

In the interim, affected users are advised to switch to traditional navigation buttons through system settings. Clearing the system launcher cache may also temporarily mitigate the issue.

For ongoing updates, users are encouraged to check HyperOSUpdates.com for the latest firmware releases. Additionally, the MemeOS Enhancer app—available on the Play Store—provides access to advanced system features and update management tools.
