Xiaomi introduces the XRING T1 chip: Pure 4G eSIM independence for smartwatches

At the Xiaomi 15th Anniversary Strategic New Product Launch Conference, the company launched a breakthrough in wearable technology: the XRING T1 chipset, its self-designed 4G baseband chip, behind the new Xiaomi Watch S4. It’s a giant leap for Xiaomi’s independence in cellular communication, opening 4G eSIM standalone connectivity from the wrist — not through a phone.

Industry-Grade Baseband Power in a Compact Chip

The XRING T1 is the inaugural full-link 4G baseband solution designed by Xiaomi and offers 4G LTE protocol stack coverage at all network layers. The chip passed more than 700 lab-level test cases, according to Xiaomi, demonstrating high reliability and compatibility for existing 100+ Chinese city networks.

This development opens the door for completely standalone smartwatch functionality, perfect for exercise, business, or general convenience without having a phone around.

Xiaomi Watch S4: Smart, Sleek, and Long-Lasting

With the XRING T1 onboard, the Xiaomi Watch S4 eSIM variant boasts great efficiency in its average battery life of 9 days, even when it comes with 4G standby functionality. This provides consumers a perfect blend of performance and longevity — not a common feat for eSIM devices.

Though so far only available in China, global tech enthusiasts look forward to comparing Xiaomi’s baseband innovation worldwide.
