In the recent HyperOS 2.2 beta update, keen-eyed Xiaomi enthusiasts have noticed a minor but indicative tweak to the camera app icon, heralding the broader release of the stunning Xiaomi Camera 6.0 that initially appeared with the flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
This refreshed icon is indicative of Xiaomi’s efforts to bring visual continuity to its ecosystem ahead of when the advanced features of Camera 6.0 will be rolled out to all of its devices with the release of HyperOS 2.2. The most striking difference to the camera icon is that the iconic red dot that always showed in the upper left-hand corner is gone, making way for a cleaner, more minimalist look.
What’s New in Camera Icon
The camera app’s redesigned icon features a more minimalist style in accordance with HyperOS 2.2’s overall design. The modifications are:
- Eliminating the red record indication dot in the upper left corner Slightly optimized lens element sizing
- Better aligned with HyperOS 2.2’s visual language
- Sharper outline that works better at varying display resolutions
This refreshed icon isn’t merely cosmetic—it symbolizes how Xiaomi is aligning all of its devices with a single camera software experience.
The Camera 6.0 Experience to Reach All Devices
Although the change in icons might be minimal, it marks the coming of the much-talked-about Camera 6.0 app to the larger Xiaomi ecosystem. Introduced in advance as an exclusive feature in the high-end Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Camera 6.0 offers many improvements to the photography experience:

dear team MIUI IS BETTER THAN HYPER OS LOTS OF FEATURE IN MIUI 12
MIUI for mid range phone and hyperOS for premium phone.Hyper OS is not good for entry level and mid range phone.plus I really don’t khow how after update I can use my phone for only 18hr with internet off. OS is not good.
i dont like HyperOS and i’m still using MIUI 14. every update it makes more buggy at slows down the phone. it’s just like downgrading rather than upgrading.
