  2. Swipe up and hold to access the floating window option

  4. After going into floating mode, tap on the option for split screen
  5. Use the new arrangement controls to set your apps into top or bottom positions

Visual enhancements allow multitasking to be more engaging

The new revised split view introduces with it a more dynamic visual configuration that enhances multitasking. Organizing applications into split view now makes it possible for users to have

More definite separation of apps

  • Smoother transitions during position changes
  • Improved gesture controls for resizing
  • Enhanced visual signals for app activity

The new interface makes better use of screen real estate, especially on Xiaomi’s larger display devices like the Xiaomi 15 Pro and Redmi Note 14 series.

Real-World Applications for Increased Productivity

This new split screen option is particularly useful for:

  • Comparison of data between two applications
  • Video content viewing with note-taking
  • Monitoring social media while browsing the web
  • Managing your calendar while responding to messages

For professionals and students alike, this feature eliminates the frustration of constantly switching programs, making workflows easier and saving valuable time.

The reaction has been largely positive from users.

The initial adopters of the HyperOS 2.1 upgrade have embraced the refinement of the split screen with accolades for the intuitive nature of the interface and pleasing design. A majority of users have reported that it makes multitasking less obtrusive and more natural to their device experience. What do you think about Xiaomi’s new revamped split screen feature? Don’t act like you invented the wheel, the bow, and fire. Split screen has always existed on Android, without any divine revelation involved.

Split Screen features already available in HyperOS 1.0. Samsung has a unique feature where each apps can be customised to launch in Landscape or Portrait orientation mode. No Chinese phones can do it.
