To the dismay of smartphone enthusiasts everywhere, tech media outlet SmartPrix has confirmed that Realme will be launching an ultra-flagship at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress 2025. The new flagship will be launching between March 3-6 and will reportedly put top-notch camera capabilities at the forefront with a particular focus placed on the application of the zoom lens. What has the tech world buzzing, however, is the similar likeness of the design of the forthcoming device with the recently released 15 Ultra of Xiaomi.
Similarities in design raise eyebrows
Based on the teasers released so far by Realme, the new flagship features a large circular camera unit at the center of the back panel. The device has a two-color design and color combination that closely resembles the leaked images of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This design direction is a dramatic deviation of Realme’s typical design language and signifies the company changing position within the premium space.
Teaser marketing promises “ultimate clarity beyond the flagship” and promises a photography experience at the DSLR level. Technical specifications promise 10x and potentially 120x zoom capabilities although the pre-release resolution prevents us at this point from accurately confirming specifics.
Official Verification of Premium Hardware
Judging by the available information, the Realme flagship will be equipped with a gigantic 1-inch primary sensor at the center of the circular housing of the cameras. This design of the hardware has put the device at par with premium offerings of established players including Xiaomi and marks Realme’s intentions of making a serious push into the premium world of smartphones. Realme marketing head Francis Wong has confirmed that the device will be showcased at MWC, although it has not yet been confirmed whether this will be a commercial reveal of the device or a technical demo of the tech. Realme product director Chase Xu has also released comparison photography samples with allegedly superior results compared with flagship competition.
While the official nomenclature has not yet been confirmed, insider speculation has the device potentially launching with the Realme GT 7 Ultra title. This push into the ultra-premium category marks Realme’s intention of entering the established players’ domain in the premium smartphone space with the latest photography technology.
