Xiaomi has officially updated its End-of-Support (EOS) list, shutting down software update doors for a series of bestsellers Redmi and POCO smartphones. As of this month, following smartphones will no longer receive official HyperOS, and Android updates, including security patches:
- Redmi Note 11 SE
- Redmi Note 11S 5G
- Redmi Note 11S
- Redmi Note 11
- Redmi Note 11 5G
- POCO M4 Pro
- Redmi Note 11 5G
- POCO X4 Pro 5G
- Redmi 10C
- Redmi 10 2022
What Users Need to Know
With these tools added in Xiaomi’s EOS, no one will receive
- Major Android version updates
- MIUI or HyperOS updates
- Official security releases and bug fixing
This means long-term security vulnerabilities, with vulnerabilities no longer supported with updates via Xiaomi, but with access to them through custom ROMs such as LineageOS and Pixel Experience.
Why is Xiaomi Stopping Support for These Devices?
Xiaomi typically comes with two to three years of meaningful Android updates and three to four years of security updates, respectively, for device types. Redmi Note 11 series and POCO X4 5G, both of them having been released in 2022, have completed the update life cycle’s life stage. Latest releases have a high level of preference when it comes to updates at Xiaomi for offering newer software enhancements and security options.
What Can Users Do Next?
For users with one of these devices, best options include:
- Continue with use but don’t conduct sensitive operations for lack of security updates
- Consider a switch to a newer model of POCO or Xiaomi with long-term support.
- Explore custom ROMs in case you’d rather extend the device’s life with unoffical updates
Xiaomi’s decision to stop updating such smartphones is in harmony with its practice of updating regularly. As disappointing for part of its owners, it keeps extending software support for newer smartphones. In case one of your smartphones happens to fall under its range, then it could be high time for an upgrade or a switch to an alternative software.
Redmi note 9 pro max next update please 🙏🙏🙏
oh!! y ahora, quien podrá defenderme?? yo!!! las roms personalizadas….al menos Xiaomi avisa que ya no te dará más soporte…
for the December and January schedule alone, there are still many who have not received the update… let’s finish the unfinished update schedule first, xiaomi is the worst about updates in my opinion… xiaomi should prioritize high spec phones first to receive updates, not midrange and low budget is prioritized in updates….why buy high spec but until now have not received updates…stupid system
Poco F6 kimaradt a listáról, nincs hyperos 2 , a biztonsági frissítés meg November 1 !!!!!!!!
