Xiaomi Group’s share price increased over HK$39 to a record high of HK$39.85 (equivalent to 37.3 yuan), its market value to a record HK$1 trillion. It is a record high for the group, and a reflection of its strong position in the marketplace.
Xiaomi’s History with its Stock Price: Listing to All-Time High
Xiaomi was publicly listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on July 9, 2018, under the name “Xiaomi Group”. It was the first corporation to utilize a voting rights structure under a reform in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s listing mechanism. Nevertheless, stocks in Xiaomi performed poorly in its early years, falling below its issue price of HK$17 in its first trading session and sinking to an all-time low of HK$8.28 a share in September 2019.
The stock then recovered a lot. On 3 January 2025, Xiaomi’s price hit a high of HK$36.25, its best level in 5 January 2021. Shortly thereafter, in 24 January 2025, Xiaomi gained over 7% in its trading session in the afternoon, closing at HK$37.1—a new high.
Strong Financial Performance Drives Growth
Xiaomi’s impressive performance in its stocks can be attributed to its sound financial performance. In Q3 2024,
- Revenue: RMB 92.51 billion (above the forecasted RMB 90.28 billion), representing a 30.5% year-on-year
- Net Profit: RMB 5.35 billion, beating its forecasted RMB 4.73 billion, with a 4.4% increase over a year ago
- Innovative Business Losses: It incurred an adjusted loss of RMB 1.5 billion in its inno-tech car and other emerging businesses
Xiaomi’s Vision for the Future
Xiaomi’s founder, CEO, and chairman Lei Jun proudly proclaimed that “Xiaomi delivered its best performance in history.” It keeps developing its ecosystem, with a significant bet in AIoT, electric cars, and high-end smartphones, deepening its role as a technology titan in an international marketplace.
With Xiaomi’s valuation at a record high and its worth over HK$1 trillion, its growth curve keeps rolling strong. Experts and investors will closely follow its soon-to-be-published Q4 2024 earnings report to see if such momentum will continue.
